If Jesus died to forgive us, then why is there a Hell?

@AdaG,
Welcome to a2k!
This is a fun place, albeit with few who profess belief.
But, please explain.
Does it really make sense to you that infinite punishment could be assigned for a finite sin? Particularly in the light of Paul's words at Romans 6:7?

@FBM,
Heh heh.
I believe I am witnessing an a2k sashay.
Very adroit.

@AdaG,
Welcome to A2K Adag, in scripture, there were three words that are translated as Hell, Gehenna, Hades/Sheol and Tartaroo.

Which of these would you suggest is set aside for Satan and humans?

Sounds to me as though the Jehovah's Witnesses have taken over the farm.

The crop should be interesting

You've listed four words.

@Frank Apisa,
Well, the JWs most likely agree with you when they say "if you die, you're dead"

@InfraBlue,
You would not be wrong,

As Hades is the Greek translation for the word She'ol, perhaps at error, I don't often separate the two.

Hades is used independently of the word She'ol in the New Testament books that were written in Koine Greek.

What makes you think I say that, Neo?

U. S. intends to rebuild.
What are the odds?
And will it ever be Babylon again?

@neologist,
Will it forever be populated only by ostriches and goats and whatnot? The only logical way to find out if "never" and "forever" are true prophecies is to wait until the end of time, unless you know a way to see into the future. There are people living in the area now.

And to say that Babylon will never exist again as the same political and social entity is hardly prophecy. I'd link you to the Wiki page list of ancient cities that don't exist anymore, but I know you have a phobia about off-site links. The list is extensive.

@neologist,
You are wrong, Neo.

I have no idea about what happens after death...if anything.

@Frank Apisa,
That's interesting, old friend.
Does it suggest your perception of possible indefinite future time allows you to speculate you may experience it?
It is my hope you will experience it right here on earth, you and your loved ones.

When I say, "I have no idea about what happens after death...if anything."...what it should suggest is: I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS AFTER DEATH...IF ANYTHING.

I live my life as though this is the only chance I will get. One of my favorite expressions is, "This is not a dress rehearsal." (It may be, but I say it anyway.)

This may be all there is...and there may be much more. I am not going to guess either way...and I will continue to live this life as if it is the only...and if there is more, I get an unexpected bonus.

In any case, I think the Jehovah's Witness's round and round on this is way beneath someone as intelligent as you, Neo.

I do not mean this disrespectfully no matter how it sounds, my friend, but I think you, and your fellow JW's, have been had.

@Frank Apisa,
Beer tastes the same to both of us, Frank.
We value our loved ones just the same.

What's the loss?
