I only have a couple of suggestions for Donkeyboy regarding the "problem".
1. If the ladies are frightened by its length, simply tie it in a reef knot, thereby reducing the length by about four inches. This also has the extra benefit of producing a sudden bulge halfway down the shaft, thereby giving your "Hampton" a ribbed effect, which increases the pleasure for your partner.
2. Tie a piece of cord at one end, pull the cord tight and tie onto the other end, and take up archery.
