The thing is, I just realized that it will be able to solve some of the problems of allowing people to share among friends while disallowing the imposition of said sharing on those who do not welcome it.

Sounds like a wonderful idea! I look forward to it... Very Happy

Blogging is already built into it, but is the smallest part of it.

And on mods scotching people, as craven lengthily explained, and Jespah's earlier link mentioned longly, some people f'k up multiply re promotion, or whatever execrence.

I love husker dearly, but I take the point. It is no one time thing, however slight the last item seems to us. I do remember previous stuff. And I too hope they turn this one around.

No, I'm not a mod or sucking up, I've just been around a long time and watching. These rules have been in place for years now.

And I'd love some lightening up, given some controls.

I got an e-mail from Husker this morning. I told him everyone wanted to know how he's doing. Here's what he wrote...

"Well this morning - I feel like a truck ran over me - only that's a pretty good thing - there was a massive reduction in swelling in my foot - just puffy on the top and outside of ankle - my calf has come down a little also - it's more difficult to tell. In the beginning the doctors took markers and outlined the infection zones to keep an eye or better judge the movement on my leg - we re-did the outlining but I notice now it's about worked off - we also took a marker and make three marks so that we could measure in the same spot every time - those got warm off this morning also - I guess that's ok since the sice of everything is going down.

I guess we are going to buy a digital meat thermometer cause we're heard you an accuratly get a temp of your leg or other body part - by doing this and charting you might be able to get a jump on the next outbreak - It seems timing is everything."

That say's it all. What would happen if we did't have a protocol to follow, and mods to do their jobs, and btw, the mods help us folks out with difficult tasks, they aren't here just to bust our chops.

I had given up on trying to teach myself to post a pic, (i was missing a step) Timber helped me out one night, look at what he did for me-

http://www.able2know.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1169174#1169174

He didn't have to do that. I'll bet it took some time on his part, I was so grateful he helped me, I had been feeling retarded over not grasping something that seemed simple for others.

If the members did as they pleased would A2K turn into another Abuzz?

It sounds as if he has been given many chances and was treated fairly with past happenings.

I wish the best for Husker, (speedy recovery for you!) the mods, and the A2K community.

Paulaj, I think we all agree on the need for protocol and enforcing the TOS. And I truly believe the moderators do the best job they can. But in this case, the link was not to a "web venture," it was to a blog. There is no commercial content on his blog, so I am sure Husker did not think he was violating any rule. The current policy is ambiguous...it permits members to post blog addresses in their profile, but not in a thread. I can see how it has led to problems. So if this discussion prompts a review of the current policies, then I think that is a good thing. For all of us...members, moderators and administrators alike.

Well, Craven you quoted me correctly, but managed to get my meaning all wrong. I guess I thought you knew me better than that. <sigh> I was not criticizing the moderators in anyway. All I was doing was voicing frustration that there is no flexibility in the TOS. It sounds like you are working on something and I think that's great. If there were previous violations of the TOS by husker, I'm sorry. I just think it's bad timing, when the guy needs our support, to ban him.

I agree about bad timing, Swimpy. And I certainly hope the moderators aren't angry with me now for voicing my opinion.

To be perfectly honest, I looked at Husker's site, and it does offer site hosting for money. So it isn't a blogging site.
I would still like to voice my support for Husker to get him back if possible. I know we have no say in this, but I'd feel better having him here now that he's in and out of hospital and so many of us are worried about him.

Dag, the site he listed on his profile is one of his business sites, which is allowed. That is probably the site you looked at, right? The blog he listed in the "Able to Blog" thread, and for which he was suspended, was an entirely different site that contains only random thoughts and comments...a typical blog. If you want to check it out, too, pm me and I'll give you the address. It's harmless.

I can't speak for the moderators but, I can tell you that I find it mildly irritating that you are repeating a reason for Husker's ban that is not true, that you "proxy" for Husker defeating the only point of suspending his account, and that you ask people to contact you so that you can send Husker's site(s) to them for him.

It's not just dissent for a mod decision so much as it is circumventing it in just about every way and misrepresenting it. I don't think you are being deliberately malicious in doing so but it certainly has contributed to making the moderator position here more difficult and reinforces the standing policy not to get into these discussions with members over mod actions.
