long story - revolves around new insurance carrier and new doctors cause of this, being made o feel like a hot potatoe - in the midst of seeing what's brewing in my leg and foot. I was just hoping to be able to resume normal work hours. Not now.
Aw, what a pain in the butt. I'm sorry for your plight with the health care stuff.
Do u think if I did a strip dance for cav and mrs cav it would help ? Afterall, I am in the neighbourhood ....
Cav - Jan 11 Status Update
Striptease, Prince? From Vancouver? Um...has anyone explained how big Canada is? I don't think even James Woods is that big...but I digress...
Husker, I hope you're doing all right. You can e-mail either ehBeth or me and we'll give you the phone number. Hospital-to-hospital. Eeeek!!
Take care, and I hope your infection clears up soon.
As for Cav, he had a very exhausting day yesterday; up all night (Wed) with various drips at various times. Mom and Dad Cav hired a care nurse to help Cav walk around, clean up, etc. so that's helping. And no, this isn't some "naughty nurse" type, either. **holds up Sword of Anduril**
I spoke to Cav on the phone this morning; he got some well-needed rest, and was eating a boiled egg and coffee (the famous coffee mentioned in BoGoWo's post). He is still on the mend, and sends his warmest thanks for all of the posts, and will post a message as soon as he is able.
And I would like to thank you guys for your support of me, though I don't really understand why I have to hang on to a supermarket?? (Canuck joke -
Dominion Supermarkets of Canada Home Page .
Lots of love and mega hugs returned,
Buttercup xo
Buttercup- It is so great to hear that Cav is getting better. Please send him my best wishes, and tell him that I am thinking about him!
Ask him about those mixing bowls, buttercup.
Cav
Cav, you have not reached the point of feeling like a piece of meat yet, so there is hope.
I had fresh blackberries for breakfast and I ate them like this: One of Cav, one for Buttercup, one for me; one for Cav, one for Buttercup, one for me.......Did you enjoy them?
Buttercup, keep the good news coming!
BBB
Good to see you here again, Buttercup.
I'm going to call the lad as soon as I can (a friend ordered tickets to a concert tonight
), I'm trying to get them bumped so I can swan over to the hospital.
Bo emailed me the phone number, which I hope I emailed myself so I can forward it to Husker. If not, it'll have to be later tonight.
Nowwwwwwwww, as to the Prince. As he is responsible for all of this, Buttercup and I think he should make sure that he pops up to Tranna while he's in Buffalo (it's just a bit over an hour in a fast car) - and take ownership for this mess
(and the Fancyman'd be awful glad to see another handsome face)
I think the only email I have is Ebeth - she can share that if she likes.
I check the huskerhost eamil alot and the other one also - well I chck if all often if I remember which ones I have - lol - trying to remember the google ones so i can check those - lol - I R A email fool
Hi, Buttercup -- I'm not a big LOTR fan (those films were so scary and loud) so I had to look up the Sword of Anduril on the 'net. Those nurses won't be giving YOU two any trouble.
Having both Husker and Cav in the hospital is really bringing down a2k. I'm hoping you'll both be back soon to liven up the place.
Meanwhile, I like BBB's idea of eating blackberries! I got a little excited about the blueberries yesterday and bought some blueberries *and* raspberries for myself. We're having 'em for breakfast. They spoil quickly so we've got to eat them quickly... one for Cav, one for Buttercup, one for moi. I'm eating them with cottage cheese, so open wide... yum yum.
I've been thinking about Cav's prowess... IN THE KITCHEN... and wishing he could help me with a big problem I've got. We're having a week-long family reunion this summer at a state park in South Dakota. (No THAT's not the problem). The problem is that there will be 8-25 hungry people who are going to want food and the kitchen facilities are absolutely minimal. Between all the cabins we're renting, we've got one stove (not in my cabin), three small frigs, a couple of microwaves, some coffeemakers and some firepits. The resort doesn't supply any kitchen utensils at all. I've suggested that we just eat out for every meal, but that's been nixed.
Did I mention that the grocery stores are limited to a couple of Safeways and some Mom & Pop groceries? And that none of us are from South Dakota. Most of us are flying in (a few are afraid of flying and they're driving) and we can't bring a lot of stuff from home.
So, Cav, while you're lying on that bed, getting bored and realizing that there won't be anything good on the tv for another hour, please come up with an easy meal or two that I could make which can be glamorously eaten off paper plates. I can bring a duffle bag with kitchen stuff... but am nearly at a loss as to what to bring. Akkkkkkk.
Here's a poem for the day, if Cav doesn't like it, maybe Buttercup will, it has an elvish sword.
ELVES by D.J.Conway
By the fern brake, deep and shady.
There I met an elfen lady.
Dressed in coweb silk and flowers,
There she whiled away the hours,
Waiting until dark.
On the soft green moss beside her,
Lay a baby wrapped in eider.
Skin so fair and hair like midnight,
The lady watched the coming twilight,
Waiting till 'twas dark.
Silently, I sat beside her,
Hoping for some words to gather
In my numb and startled mind.
Said the lady,"You're most kind
to wait with me till dark."
"Are you lost?" I asked lady.
"Is this your home, this fern brake shady?
Will others come by star and moon?"
She only smiled, began to croon
To the elfin child.
The baby slept. The lady told me
Deep magic of the Earth and Sea.
Spells she whispered, strong and old.
"Use them well," she said."Be bold
When spelling in the night."
"Can I work these?" The lady smiled,
Gathered up her sleeping child.
"Oh yes," she answered, "'tis a boon
For waiting with me till the Moon
Slips up the sky."
Thinking deep,I sat beside her,
Keeping watch. I heard the rider
Coming through the fern brake shady.
"Are you there, my lovely lady?"
Called an elfin voice.
An elfin lord, his clothed all viney
Armed with sword and dagger shiny,
Rode his horse into the fern brake.
Then my heart began to quake
On seeing his dark eyes.
Twilight gathered; birds were still
The Moon came up above the hill.
Suddenly I felt alone.
"Have no fear, for you have sown
Good friendship."
The lady smiled and raised her hand.
Upon her brow a shining band
Glistened by the light of Moon.
"Would you too give forth a boon?"
She asked her lord.
"For here is friend, a watcher bold."
But they are enemies of old,"
The elf lord answered.
"No," she said,
"But guarded us in this fern bed"
He smiled.
"So there are some who wish us well."
His voice was like a distant bell.
A ring he took from off his hand.
"This will tune you to the land
and magic."
Its stone was pale, just like the Moon.
The air was filled with eldretch tune,
As they mounted, lord and lady,
Rode off through the fern brake shady.
I stood alone.
People say elves are not there.
But I have heard their voices fair.
When I sit down in the brake.
Magic spells I've learned to make
All from the lady.
Elf lord's ring is on my hand
To help with magic from the land.
Sometimes I talk with lord and lady
In the fern brake, deep and shady,
Secretly.
Is there magic? For me 'tis so.
For when the sun is sinking low,
I feel Earth's power within my heart
And know that I shall never part
From the lord and lady.
what a rollercoaster reading through this thread. Mrs. Cavilina - you're a good and strong woman for standing by him through sickness and in health ( insert feta here ) - please send Mr. Cavilina ( hehe ) my well wishes - this place isn't the same without his charming wit.
Is Toronto only one hour away from Buffalo ? I am in Buffalo between Mar 8 - 11 and a devious plan is already forming in my mind !!!
I was told by some guys here that I should go across the border to Canada while I am there, but they only mentioned the lap dancing clubs
Dunno what is this obsession in Canada with lap dancing, I was taken out last night by some locals here to a lap dancing club, I had to endure 2 hrs of naked girls, and they bought a private dance for me as well, for 15 mins I was absolutely terrified while a naked girl wriggled on my lap
I would llove to meet the toronto folks - Cav mate, how you have one more reason (as if you needed any) to get well soon !!!! After all, the prince is in his element only outside the hospital
Mrs Cav - you have NO idea
hmmmm - just did a mapquest from the south west end of buffalo to my office building
1 hour and 45 minutes - about the longest it can get from buffalo to tranna (who'd wanna be in the south west end of Buffalo anyway?
)
Devious plan? I like the sound of it, if it involves checking in with the Cav and Buttercup. Bo and I will come and admire you from a distance. Maybe Wenchy and JoeBlow would pop by as well. Could I convince Setanta to make a March visit?
Toronto is errr a bit well-known for it's errr village. It terrifies Setanta. Fellas are always trying to pick him up. I tell him it's the way he wears his keys.
Yeah !!! 1 hr 45 mins by car ... hmmm.. maybe I can hire a stretch limo and arrive in style
)
Sounds like a plan ?
Is it ok to virtually kiss you, Prince?
I don't care if it isn't.
<smooch>
Goddam, Both cav and husker are down . Man that sucks a big one.
I wanna hear good news before long or Im sending the 3rd Michigan up there to take command and get that medical staff serious about results.
Cav is probably getting recipe ideas for Not what to cook.
<superG, I'm going to India next Saturday. Any chance of you passing through the motherland?>
Good News (for a change)
I just came back from the hospital with good news...they are preparing to release Cav from the hospital as early as next Tuesday. He will continue his healing at home, with in-home care (i.e. a nurse comes over, hooks up the bag, watches it drip for an hour, and then leaves and comes back later to do it all over again). Simply put, there is nothing more they can do at the hospital. He is on a regimen of antibiotics, some other pills, and nutrition. Cav is very happy, albeit still in a bit of discomfort, and is looking forward to finally having a good night's sleep...
That is great news! Going home's gotta be the best thing for the fella. He can be more comfy in his own space with his very own puppy. At this rate I'll be able to give him a proper hug soon.
