Thanks George
George,

Thank you for the translation. I have asked around the family and from what we have put together is "arma accipio". We can guess the arma (armor) and I think the accipio is "accepted" would this be correct?

Latin Aria
Hi George,

I am writing a latin aria. I need some help in translating the english words to latin. I have most of them translated, but I am afraid that my latin grammar is not what I remember.

I can email a copy of the english and latin text.

I am a music student at HCC community college.

Thanks for any help! If this is too much, I understand....

Thanks,
Daniel

In the most literal sense, that translates as "I accept arms."
But among the meanings of "accipio" is "I welcome" and among the
meanings of "arma" is "soldiers." So you could translate that as
"I welcome soldiers" or "Warriors welcome."

I can only afford to do this in bits and pieces.
If you post a section of the aria at a time, I'll try to help.

This is from the medieval Latin Hymn "Dies Irae".
"Confutatis maledictis" means "The accursed having been silenced."

Hi George,

here is the first two lines -

The spirit is gone
But the flesh remains

Spiritus est Absentis
Tamen viscus subsisto

The time is gone
But memories sustain

Tempus est absentis
Tamen monumentum sustineo

I tried to translate it, but I am afraid that my Latin grammar not good.

Thanks
Daniel

Wow, this is absolutely great! I really appreciate you guys taking the time to transfer all of this!

I would like to ask if you could perhaps transfer some quotes/words for me;

"Somewhere in between"

"No name face"

"Lifehouse"

Facies sine nomine
[Literally, "face without a name"]

"Lifehouse"
I have no idea what a "lifehouse" is.

Hi George,

Here is the next part . . .

The heart broken
The ear can not hear

pectus infractus
auris non audite

The breath
No longer is here

pneum
haud diutius est hic

Thanks so much . . .
