I came to check a latin translation, wandered a bit and to be honest? This place isn't really my cup of tea. Apart from this nonsense, there's been an overly distasteful rape joke and a whole lot of general ill-mannered behaviour.

I feel compelled to explain my style. When speaking with charming specimens of humanity such as yourselves I find it useful to be as polite and articulate as possible. It's far easier to read, not to mention (generally) staves off accusations regarding my parentage and intelligence. Plus I am far less likely to break out and call you a couple of unflattering names and swear too much to be taken seriously.

Although I do find it amusing you call yourself a hobbit. Given that my partner and I fondly refer to ourselves as hobbits because we are both homebodies, foodies and family oriented.

Just a point I wish to make:

Actually, by inferring that those who chose that fashion are intellectually challenged, that can very easily be contrued as a personal attack. While I find your opinions distasteful, you have not descended into UBBantics so they aren't as bad as they could be. My point about body art, particularly tattooing, is that 'fashion' and 'persuasion' dismiss the reality of the practice as not only personally significant but often of high importance otherwise.

As for the history of body art: what's your point exactly? Like I was saying about the importance thing, were I Maori I'd probably consider the moko if I were entitled. Much of the more meaningful body art is based on those ancient practices. IMO as a means to connect to a past denied to a lot of people.

If I want to connect to the past I will not choose to do it by staining my skin. Others evidently feel differently.

My point, to repeat what I said earlier, is that tattooing and body piercing are abhorrent to me, even in others, and I think of it as a kind of vandalism and crime against nature- even if the subject was not particularly attractive to begin with.
I don't think tattoos are artistic, cute, attractive, tasteful or ornamental. I think they are a blemish, and an affront.

I was wondering if anyone could help me - I am trying to figure out the latin translation for "Do not fear the unknown". (which is something he always tells me)

I'm only 13 - I won't take latin for three more years but i like to draw and am drawing a coat of arms for my dad that I want to give him for his birthday which is coming up soon.

I want to make sure it's correct because I am going to paint it nice on kind of an expensive (for me) canvas.
