Re: A latin translation please

Hi all,

My Grandpa died at the weekend and I would love to use some latin phrases in memory of him. Could anyone please translate the following for me?

"To the world you may be one person,
But to one person you may be the world"

"Grandpa, miss you and love you always"

I also have the following poem so if anyone fancies a challenge in translating it that would be great!

"I think of you often
and make no outward show,
But what it means to lose you,
no one will ever know
You are not forgotten
nor will you ever be,
As long as life and memories last,
I will remember thee.
To some you may be forgotten,
to others a part of the past,
But to me who loved you dearly,
your memories will always last.
Nothing can be more beautiful
than the memories I have of you.
To me, you were someone special,
God must have thought so too!
If tears could build a staircase
and memories a lane,
I would walk all the way to Heaven,
and bring you back again."

Thanks

Dominique

I think of you often
Te saepe reputo

and make no outward show,
et nullam ostentationem facio,

But what it means to lose you,
Sed quod te orbari significat,

no one will ever know
nemo umquam scit

You are not forgotten
Oblivioni non traditus es

nor will you ever be,
nec umquam,

As long as life and memories last,
Quamdiu vita memoriaque durant,

I will remember thee.
Te recordabor.

To some you may be forgotten,
Oblivioni aliquibus fortasse traditus sis,

to others a part of the past,
Aliquibus pars praeteritorum,

But to me who loved you dearly,
Sed mihi qui te care amavi,

your memories will always last.
Memoriae tuae semper durabunt.

Nothing can be more beautiful
Nihil pucherior esse potest

than the memories I have of you.
quam memoriae tuae quae habeo.

To me, you were someone special,
Mihi praecipuus eras,

God must have thought so too!
Deus sic putare necesse erat!

If tears could build a staircase
Si lacrimae scalas struere possunt

and memories a lane,
et memoriae semitam,

I would walk all the way to Heaven,
Per totam viam ad caelum ambulem

and bring you back again.
et te referam.

what a cool idea for a thread..
I have a request (thank you to any and all who reply)
my wife and I have a goofy motto:

"Team Bear: We shall not be thwarted."

what would this be in Latin?

>Bear in this case is the critter, not 'bearing' a load< 8)

If I could also ask that the Latin used be as close to the original as possible (the word I'm wondering about is thwarted....)

Thank you so much!

George.. you're amazing!

How about this one "Don't give yourself good reasons to make a bad decision"?

Thanks

Aw, shucks!

Noli rationes bonas tibi dare ad sententias malas faciendum

George - thanks. Can it be any shorter? Something like "no good reasons for bad decisions?"
