I was at the library yesterday with hours to kill and took advantage to read papers from everywhere. (Btw, not wanting Syria to get the hell out of Lebanon has become a VERY lonely position.)
I thought I had had with the New York Times before. You want to talk about fear mongering and spin (negative)?

I read of the meetings between Bush and Chirac and Schroeder from a dozen different sources. The NYT told the most discouraging pessimistic tales of that and seemingly every other lead story there was. Do New Yorkers like being depressed or something? They made USA Today look like the American Spectator (think extreme-Fox). It wasn't so much that I disagreed with there take (I usually do), but that they seemingly edit out every inspirational thought, every potential positive in a subliminal kind of way with their choices of words. I imagine it's just reflective of the various writers' mindsets, but when read immediately before or after other paper's reporting of same events the negativity that stands out like a naked person in a crowd. I wonder if the suicide rates in New York are higher than other cities? If you're miserable, and you subscribe to the Times, do yourself a favor and try ANY other reputable source for your news for a week and see if your mood doesn't improve.
