The lock confused me too. I've seen hundreds of threads worse than that one. Do they ever unlock them once they've been locked... and have purged what they didn't like I wonder?

Maybe it was locked "accidentally"?

Actually, such usually happens with locked threads - they get unlocked later.

Usually it happens if someone reports a post, the thread gets locked and goes to committee. It remains locked so no changes can be made until the issue is discussed. If it is jusdged to be "acceptable" the thread is unlocked and life goes on.

Sometimes I have noticed a purge of posts if things get nasty. Other times it remains locked.

I found the url to the SNL skit (a mock tourism ad for France lol) . Yikes. Here's the dialogue...

"France. Home to the world's greatest painters, chefs.. and anti-Semites. The French. Cowardly, yet opinionated. Arrogant, yet foul-smelling. Anti-Israel, Anti-American, and, of course, as always, Jew-hating. Paris. The city of whores. Dog feces on every corner. And effite men yelling anti-Semitic remarks at children. The real creme de la creme of world culture. With all that's going on in the world, isn't it about time we got back to hating the French?"

Please address any and all complaints to the fine folks at SNL...here's the url:

Interesting that that website (miquelon.org) has a protest letter (to the producers of SNL) about French-bashing (containing the SNL transcript). Them Canajuns are "profoundly worried" LOL.

Would love to see SNL's producers' reply...Smile

Blatham, you really should post that piece in the "I want the U.S. to lose the war in Iraq" thread.

I have a feeling there are a few on that thread who will be more than happy to hear your "news".

Go ahead. Make their day Smile

"if I didn't think my opinion was right then it wouldn't be my opinion, therefore, any other opinion must be wrong, thus, stupid"
Blatham is, therefore, stupid. (Blatham also hates america and is considering moving to New Mexico to be with other people who hate american so much they are also willing to move to New Mexico)Ok, I lied about Blatham moving to New Mexico.(but not about his being stupid)

Interesting that inferred "I'm not like Tom Delay; therefore I am intelligent". Perhaps we should explore a definition of intelligence.

Using Ican's current method of research, let's say:

1. S/he is literate and liberal, therefore s/he is intelligent.

2. S/he is literate and liberal, therefore s/he is stupid.

3. S/he is literate and conservative, therefore s/he is intelligent.

4. S/he is literate and conservative, therefore s/he is stupid.

I think any particular bias on this particular subject can be discerned by how comfortable or uncomfortable one is with each statement.
