Florida's not going to have their ballots all counted until Thursday? Can't we just kick them out of the country?

Nimh, that is definitively true about Florida (that it will move back towards Kerry)... but the hole is getting deep.

Very deep. (Bush still up by 5% with 73% of precincts reporting).

Hey - other question - if it says, "73% of precincts reporting" - does that also roughly mean 73% of the population? Or do some precincts contain many more people than others?

If 73% of the FL votes have now been counted and Bush is still up by 5%, it would mean that Kerry'd have to get something like a 15% lead in the remaining precincts to still pull aside.

Ya'll better hope they haven't counted Dane County, WI yet either, or you can kiss that state goodbye.
(they couldn't have yet, I'm just being snotty).

No Nimh... almost half the population lives in my little corner of Florida... it ain't over yet.

Well, at the very least the absentee ballots haven't been counted yet. I'm not sure what percentage they are of the total or how they skew.

I have the impression that some precincts are much larger than others but am not sure of that.

nimh- There is an area of southeast Florida......Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach (you DO remember Palm Beach) that tends to vote Democratic. These are very highly populated areas.

SC senate seat's now called for DeMint (R)
Georgia's seat called for Isakson (R)
Oklahoma's seat called for Coburn (R)
Bunning (R) is ahead by 19,500 votes in Kentucky, 99% of precincts reporting

If Bunning's result stands, that means a Democratic takeover of the Senate has now become impossible.

Osso saunters in with a few roast chickens with rosemary, oregano, and garlic... be careful, it's sizzling.

A little wine with that? a nice bubbly water?

I was in avoidance mode. Answered my emails before looking, and turned the chicken. (Or the tofu, for those who prefer it.)

****, this is tense.

I went to Bootlegger's bookstore around four, taking a break from work, to stock up on some non intellectual books to bury my brain in, in case of disaster.. and the owner said, isn't this nervewracking? Yeah.

Squidging into the sofa next to kicky and dlowan....

CNN exit polls for Ohio seem encouraging, although maddeningly, I can't seem to find where they have the pure numerical VOTES. (___% Kerry, ___% Bush as opposed to __% of men and ___% of women)

But what numbers they have are encouraging: If 51% of men voted for Kerry, and 49% of men voted for Bush; and 53% of women voted for Kerry, and 47% for Bush; no matter what the man/ woman ratio is, that shows Kerry ahead.

It is fascinating to listen to Tim Russert on NBC figuring out the math of the possible scenarios. Between typing on the computer, and looking at the TV, I have a major league pain in the neck!
