Keep in mind Florida let everyone who wanted to go absentee if they wanted, and they're now reporting that they haven't been counted yet. The Rock the Vote people may have more than offset the traditional Absentee voters.
Aside: that reminds me, I bought the domain smokethevote.com and during a stone moment and forgot to do something with it. Any ideas?
If legalizing marijuana ever becomes a major issue, you've got it made, Bill.
Absentee votes won't be counted 'til Thursday, eh? I knew we wouldn't know anything definite tonight, but still.
obama is good, indeed. There are rumors that he will be become the first Afro-American president...
170 Bush - 112 Kerry - CNN
Fox just said Obama will be giving his victory speech ... coming up.
OK, I'm gonna try to make some sense of the states that have already mostly reported in. Whats the current score and how does it compare with the last polls from that state and with the 2000 result?
FLORIDA
2000: Gore +0%
Last polls: Bush +2%
Current: Bush +7%
55% of precincts reporting
GEORGIA
2000: Bush +12%
Last polls: Bush +13%
Current: Bush +24%
With 56% of precincts reporting
INDIANA
2000: Bush +16%
Last polls: Bush +19%
Current: Bush +24%
61% of precincts reporting
KENTUCKY
2000: Bush +15%
Last polls: Bush +19%
Current: Bush +20%
92% of precincts reporting
SOUTH CAROLINA
2000: Bush +16%
Last polls: Bush +13%
Current: Bush +14%
54% of precincts reporting
VIRGINIA
2000: Bush +8%
Last polls: Bush +4%
Current: Bush +12%
64% of precincts reporting
In 5 out of 6, Bush is (thus far) doing better than in 2000, and in 6 out of 6, better than the polls would have suggested. Not looking too good, folks.
Colorado seems to have voted down proportional voting.
Bunning(R) has taken a 26,000 vote lead with 92 percent of the precincts reporting in the KY senate race. That's less than a percentage point -- this one will probably go to a recount.
Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, Missouri and Arkansas have now all gone pink!
MO went pink! Dammit.
Way too much pink on that map. (Right now, WI, MI, OH, FL, MO, AR.)
I mean, it could be that the remaining precincts will be much bluer and bring the results down more to something like what the polls had suggested, of course ... I dunno, you people live there you probly know better. I heard Joe saying that about Florida, anyway.
On the other hand I've been tracking these numbers, and thus far they've remained pretty stable as the number of precincts reporting went up ...
Thanks for the analysis, nimh.
I'm looking at the news.yahoo.com/electionresults map, it dont have no pink, just red and blue - and grey, which is what all those states you're mentioning still are. Same on MSNBC "national results" page. What you all looking at?
Martinez still leading Castor by 2% in Florida, 67% in ...
DeMint leading Tenenbaum by 5% in SC, 52% in ...
Burr leading Bowles by 6% in NC, 30% in ...
Coburn leading Carson by 7% in OK, 27% in ...
Isakson leading 62/36 in SC, 62% of precincts in ...
Only good news on the Senate front is that near-tie with Bunning in Kentucky
Nimh, that is definitively true about Florida (that it will move back towards Kerry)... but the hole is getting deep. Almost half the state lives in the South East area (Palm Beach and down) and it leans further to the left than the rest. And we are the ones who haven't been counted yet. The hillbillies all have.
Soz and I are lookin at yahoo's home page
Daschle is ahead with 15% of the precincts in...think it said 52 to 48.
I've been looking at the county-by-county breakdown in Ohio, Franklin County (mine) it's creeping up and up and up, now 51% Bush 49% Kerry with 50% of precincts reporting.
