"I would say that President Bush's 51% is a clear indicator of the confidence of the voting public."

I'm not disputing that he appears to have won, legitimately. All I'm saying is that almost 50% of the population DIDN'T vote for the Bush agenda - & many remain very strongly opposed it. "Unity" will be extremely difficult in these circumstances, especially if it's more of the same policies of the previous 4 years.

Right now, Bush is ahead by 125,000 votes in Ohio. So if 250,000 provisonal votes are allowed, then Kerry needs to win 162,500 votes out of the 250,000 votes to make up the shortfall.

Pardon, make that 187,500 votes out of 250,000 provisional ballots.

Bush has 125,000 vote lead in Ohio. I'm hearing there are only 130,000 provisional ballots there. But even if there are 250,000, Kerry would need to win 50% of those to draw even. 76% of them to pull ahead. Unlikely.

And that's not taking the absentee ballots, which favor Bush, into consideration.

Oh well. I can wait another day. (or two.)

I'm hitting the hay. Nite.

I heard it was 200,000 provisional votes in Ohio. Plus some absentee ballots...

G'night, Tico.

I'm thinikng that Fedral forgot that the unity of the past 4 years came from 9/11, when the whole world was united behind the U.S., not just we within the U.S. But Bush squandered that, behaved like the crass bullying ugly american apparently 51% of us favor over a more civilized and diplomatic demeanor... Princess:

The Ohio Secretary of State just gave an extended interview on CNN. He said that in the past, over 90% of provisonal ballots had been ruled valid. So a provisional ballot is almost certain to be the same as a normal vote.

187,500 votes out of 250,000 is a tall order, but it depends on what counties they are from.

So we shall see, but not tonight. They count the provisonal balllots in 11 days, by law, in Ohio.

Yes, pp! Sad

I even borrowed a copy of Gone With The Wind from my library, thinking it would distract me, if need be. But now it's looking like hard work & a long slog! (It's only 7 pm + a bit here ..)

The Secretary of State in Ohio announced that even considering the provisional ballots, it would be statistically impossible for Kerry to win.

Bush wins popular vote by nearly 4 million.

First President since 1988 to win a majority of the popular vote.

Largest number of votes in history go to Bush

Bush wins electoral vote with comfortable margin...projected 286 - 252

Senate Minority Leader Daschle defeated.

GOP gains seats in House.

GOP gains margin in Senate.

Do ya think the Dems may one day figure out that a campaign based solely on the imagined negatives of the opponent will never be a winner?

What's Edwards gonna say?

This:

"John Kerry and I made a promise to the US people that in this election every vote would count and every vote would be counted.

"Tonight we are keeping our word and we will fight for every vote."
