I dunno ebrown - I may be logging off soon too. The world won't end if I don't get the results in real time.

dlowan must have had that queued up and waiting to post since Bush took the lead in Ohio earlier tonight.
When you loose fairly, accuse, accuse, accuse...
Right out of the Democratic Handbook.
Lol - here we go. Actually, I just got online - and posted it from my email as I got into A2k - before I knew anything about Ohio.
I do not live in your stupid country, Fedral - and haven't heard any election news since last I was online.

And I missed the big kladderadatsch I gather, huh?
Ohio goes to Bush ... <sighs, shakes head, rolls eyes, throws up hands>
But they declared Florida open again?

President Bush has a clear majority of the popular vote and a 3% margin over Senator Kerry. He has also held a 120 thousand vote margin in Ohio for the last several hours and by now the remaining uncounted votes are not at all likely to change that result. With Ohio, Bush is just 3 electoral votes short of victory, and Kerry's odds are very long indeed.
The world is a good place. I'm going to sleep.

Somebody explain why I should be optimistic. My map still shows it ending up 269/269. What am I missing?

The pattern from that long list of states I just posted is very clear, by the way.
Not quite across the board, there are some exceptions, but running through them I'd say that in a clear majority of cases, the red states have given Bush a larger lead than the polls had predicted, and the blue states have given Kerry a larger lead than the polls had predicted.
That is <counts> - 18 out of 20 of the Bush states listed above thus far give him a bigger lead than the polls for those states had predicted; only 2 a smaller one. And 6 out of 12 Kerry states listed above thus far give him a bigger lead than the polls had predicted, 4 give him exactly the predicted lead and only 2 a smaller one.
The nation turned out to be even more divided than the polls had suggested.

Hello! Anyone still awake there?
Here's the latest we've gotten here in Oz:
President Bush is ahead in the popular vote 51 to 48 per cent.
Senator Kerry needs a win in Ohio to have a realistic shot at victory. With 67 per cent of the precincts reporting, Mr Bush led there by more than 100,000 votes.
The winner needs 270 electoral votes. The latest projections give Mr Bush 246 votes and Senator Kerry 207.
Any update on this?

Goodnight Little K!
Yeah, New Hampshire ... currently, Kerry 51, Bush 49, but still 12% of precincts to go ...
