It's all about power. The power to control people's lives. That's all it was ever about.

Actually, I don't agree with you. Religious phenomena are broad and varied.

Very clearly, social control (agreement on values, on authority, maintenance of power in the hands of a select few, etc) is a significant function of western religious behaviors, but that's not equally true in other cases.

Further, even within western traditions, there are many other aspects to faith and religious practice which aren't related to that function above, eg, charity as a simple example. And we ought to acknowledge that religious stories are often means of carrying learned wisdoms down through generations, and also that these stories represent pre-scientific attempts to theorize regarding the world. Lots of stuff going on in religion.

It's not wise to misunderestimate the enemy.

I saw you this morning.
You were moving so fast.
Can't seem to loosen my grip
On the past.
And I miss you so much.
There's no one in sight.
And we're still making love
In My Secret Life.

I smile when I'm angry.
I cheat and I lie.
I do what I have to do
To get by.
But I know what is wrong,
And I know what is right.
And I'd die for the truth
In My Secret Life.

Hold on, hold on, my brother.
My sister, hold on tight.
I finally got my orders.
I'll be marching through the morning,
Marching through the night,
Moving cross the borders
Of My Secret Life.

Looked through the paper.
Makes you want to cry.
Nobody cares if the people
Live or die.
And the dealer wants you thinking
That it's either black or white.
Thank G-d it's not that simple
In My Secret Life.

I bite my lip.
I buy what I'm told:
From the latest hit,
To the wisdom of old.
But I'm always alone.
And my heart is like ice.
And it's crowded and cold
In My Secret Life.

I agree. Wild nights, although pleasing, cannot happen all the time.

Dear Auntie Lowan:

Why on earth do I have to do a dissertation on the Poor Law amendment act? Is it because the faculty's eyes are too near each other, or because someone's punishing me for something done in a previous life?

English Poor Laws? Did America have Poor Laws? Well, the poor ARE always with us, if they are not, indeed, we ourselves....

Well, they were very important to the poor poor - but, as you say, poor you!

Had you no choice?

Ahhhh..no wonder I did not know that as, you see, when I am sleeping, I DONT want any body contact at all, else I cant sleep.

Snuggling is great when you are awake, when I am asleep I am like GET AWAY FROM ME !!

Am I strange or what ?

we are all strange

snuggling CAN be overdone

one can become sleepless due to overheating, or unwillingness to disturb one's partner

nonetheless - mmmmmmmmmmmmmm...snuggling......

Yes, the English poor law and its amendment, which is basically the dullest topic you could ever come across. The University forces all language students to do a bridging course about the other arts.. and that's one of the things that we just /have/ to do. If I had choice, I would have chosen something about gangs and resistance in Latin America... oh well.
