I think Dlowan is showing us a bit of her "dark" side. This is a scary road we're traveling on.
Hmm, I think it be her medium-gray (or grey) side. Her truly dark side is buried beneath layers of chocolate syrup, potato peelings, and varnish, and hasn't seen the light of day in decades.
When it emerges, it will be quivering and fearful but already equipped with sharp teeth (for the larval appearance is deceptive, and is actually got through reduction), and will swiftly incorporate any prodding finger into its own reeking, bilious mass.

I'd never heard of bartholin glands referred to as a bilious mass before... wow.
