@blueveinedthrobber,
If he DOES violate the Constitution
by exceeding his authority, then YEA,
we CAN pass a bill of impeachment,
tho I don t wanna see that happen,
for practical reasons; (I don t wanna see Biden incumbent in 2016).

Already happened back in 2012.

Critics say the merits of the operation and its legality under international law are matters separate from the domestic legal question of who — the president or Congress — has the authority to decide whether the United States will take part in combat.

“When there is no imminent threat to our country, he cannot launch strikes without authorization from the American people, through our elected representatives in Congress,” wrote Representative Justin Amash, a freshman Republican of Michigan, on his Facebook page. “No United Nations resolution or Congressional act permits the president to circumvent the Constitution.”

@Builder,
US Constitution Article 1 Section 8 grants Congress
the power to declare war, among other things.

NOWHERE in the Constitution
is the president prohibited or disabled from waging war which is not declared.

Pursuant to the First Amendment, any shoeshine boy or drunken street bum
can declare war, and that will have equal LEGAL effect to the president DECLARING it.

@OmSigDAVID,
That's a really good question, David.

Hey, I got a grit story. Between enlisting in the Army and traveling to Ft Jackson we had meal tickets to go along with our free train ride. Most of the guys went for the grits with butter on top. Some of us with a more Northern accent had the same thing, but with milk and sugar added. We thought we were looking at Cream of Wheat and everybody was happy - more or less.

Roger, when I first encountered grits, I thought it was what we called farina.

I gotta tell ya, the best grits I ever had was in Greenwich Village, Manhatten. And I've had me some grits.

I still think grits is more similar in texture to farina, rather than cream of wheat.

@roger,
Ok, I'll come out and ask the question.

Who did Not think of the movie My Cousin Vinny when the subject turned to grits?

@FBM,
Oh God. I don't even have to play that to know where it's from Very Happy

In fact, I was watching an interesting documentary last night about Daisy and Violet Hilton, who were conjoined twins. They were in this movie, but only because they needed the money. They had been swindled repeatedly by various managers and their former guardian.
On the freak show circuit, they were like royalty. They were making up to $5000 a week back in the 1920's and 1930's. Lost it all, and then some.

Anyway, I always liked this movie, so thanks for making me part of the gang.

@chai2,
I gotta come clean, though. That clip is the only thing I know about that film. (Well, until now.) Embarrassed
