Heaps made me smile today, after all it was mothers day. Being presented with a lovely bunch of flowers by my beautiful daughters and sitting out in the fresh air and sunshine chattering, doesn't need much to make me smile.

There was a story on NPR (All Things Considered) today about Chip, the traveller, hitching west again, at the age of 23. It brought back a lot of memories. I am pleased that the "rules" haven't changed in 40 years.

I was cleaning out my work computer this afternoon, because a new machine cometh.

I've unearthed that Abuzz classic:
"Please delete my for your God forsaken list of harrassment and pain"

Some serious punning going on there!

Found other classic Abuzz threads I'd saved, also.

Howsabout posting the Raven's Realm Cat haikus that you emailed me in the Cat Thread?

This place needs more fun and creativity!

dys had told me to be cautious with speeding when driving through the Navajo reservation.
So I did.

However, I got stopped in a small Utah town by the Utah Highway Patrol: speeding.

"Do you know that you can get jailed for what you did?" .... I'd showed my German ID-card and licence.
Obviously, the patrolman was a good Mormon: he just told me "I'll have you know", wearing a scowl on his face and went off to his car.
(He didn't tell me, how much I was speeding anytime [it couldn't have been more than three to five miles])

Somehow this was quite funny though I missed the opportunity of staying in an Utah jail. Wink

@Walter Hinteler,
Oh well then ... you're both excused.
These conversions, from country to country, can be so perplexing!
And if one was a constant traveler, one could be frequently confused! Wink

actually the reason Walter was stopped was because his rental car has TEXAS plates on it.

@dyslexia,
Now why would a Texas number plate cause on to be stopped, I wonder?

Confused? Arizona doesn't observe summertime, but the Navajo reservation (in that state) does. We had only been at evening/night/morning in the hotel in Arizona time zone ...

@Walter Hinteler,
Better get back to Germany quick-smart, Walter!
These sorts of situations could utterly bewilder one! (Say nothing of land one in jail at worst!) Razz Wink

That's very wise of you, Walter, considering who you're talking to! Wink

How much longer do you have in the US?
And will you be returning home straight after, or a bit more travel to go?
