The weather: not having to use AC at all in the middle of July, at sea level more or less, in the mid Atlantic region. Second summer of LIA-II...

@TerryDoolittle,
This summer I am working with significantly disabled students. There are 4 in the classroom, each with his or her own teacher. They range from 8 to 10 (I think). One is wheelchair bound, two have habitual drooling, one has Down's Syndrome and the fourth is autistic and is learning English as a second language. And they are all very endearing. I adore them. I am smiling most of the day.

They have whole conversations with their facial features and non-verbal vocalizations, they have no hangups about getting up to sing and dance, and they'll look you right in the eye from 3 inches away and just absorb you. And they're just mostly happy and laughing all the time.

Jeez, if this is my true calling, I got the wrong master's degree. I'd have to get another one to be a special education TEACHER (and make the 'big' bucks).

@littlek,
Can't you do that pretty quickly if you wanted to, though? I did the special education part of my master's in two summers' worth of classes, and I think there are a lot of programs like that (for current teachers who want to get a more specific degree).

Sounds like you're doing a great job with these kids, good going!

@shewolfnm,
OMFG! today i noticed my aunt was playing her stupid online gambling game, well enough, i mean keno and the machine where the numbers spin on a reel..

she got off for like an hou this morning and i hop on, she gets angry and says something about her game, im like "your not playign it though.."

her response?

"its on auto-play!"

WHAT THE LIVING ******* GODAMN TARNATION?

the credits are free, the game has no point but to click one button, and your AUTO-PLAYING IT?

With all due respect, I do see the irony, but I could do without the language.

A child...not much more than the knob of my knee. Daddy's cap spinning on his head, and of course, running, not walking. I am more aware of children these days.

@alex240101,
Remembering some doozy block parties, alex. Thanks for the reminder. My favorite: A baby elephant attended. Nothing like hearing an elephant trumpet to start off your day.

Remember the clean up too. Your smile made me smile. Thanks
