The film Human Traffic made me LOL and guffaw quite a lot. Went to see it, after all, with "Susannah" (mostly cause the film we really wanted to see wasnt playing). Its not necessarily a good film but theres just a lot of stuff thats hilarious because its so fuc king recognizable - o yeah! exactly, LOL! hee thats so funny...

it made me feel quite old too, tho ... a little sad even <nods> And I think Susannah musta seen a wholly different film than me, but she'd still been amused ... she was amused by me too, cos somehow i got all that rush again just like then, so i was talking up a storm and gesturing and energetic and incoherently anecdoting .. ;-)

Chad Hedrick coming in second in the 10,000 meter speed skating race in the Olympics. That was quite a close race. I was holding my breath the entire way.

Lucy and Ricky in California. I finally treated myself to the 4th season dvd collection of "I Love Lucy" featuring their trip to California. These are my absolute favorite Lucy episodes and tonight I watched disc 4 with Lucy as a showgirl in the movies with that big headress and the Fashion show with the $500 original Don Loper dress and I laughed and laughed. She just tickles the **** out of me. Always.

Okay, this was what made me smile last night, but I just now got to the computer.

Our neighbors across the street are going through a divorce. They have two children, an 11 year old boy and an 8 year old girl. It's a big deal because their son and ours are constant playmates. The father has turned into a complete assh*le...unbelievable stuff he's pulling. Anyway, to cheer up Mom & the kids who have been stressed out to the max lately, some mutual friends took us all to the Shriner's circus last night on free tickets. (first smile) The 8 year old girl turned out to have the winning program and was brought down to the center ring and awarded a brand new bike. You should have seen her face light up with everybody cheering and applauding for her! We haven't seen her smile for a couple of months now. It was about time!!!

Oh yeah... the A2K fart button makes me laugh almost every day. If it pops up I just have to push it at least once...

I havent been doing very well the last coupla days ... yesterday I was feeling increasingly discombobulated, and today ... well, I just couldnt get into my sane state of mind. Not for the longest time. Alarming flittings of re-emerging state of confusion, where I end up walkin' round the room singing some dittie, not knowing where I was going. Not a state I've been in much since I came here, just two-three times.

But: well clear enough still to count my blessings. Two, in particular.

- Job. I walked into the office today, said "I'm taking tomorrow off, I need a break", thats it. Its cool when you can just do that.

- A friend. So I dont have many friends here, but I got two real good ones. And more to the point, one is a cuddle-friend, a hug-friend, or how you wanna call it. Nothing beyond that, past the incidental time or two we kissed (in fact, she's got a lover-arrangement thats turning all serious now, on the verge of calling him boyfriend) - but hugging and holding and a cuddle, and thats exactly what I longed for ...

I sms'd her yesterday morning that I kinda could do with seeing a friend, and she arranged immediately to meet tonight. We sat in a cafe, chatted talked looked at some books and hugged and held each other a lot (**** what other people think). Comfort like a warm bath... I live for that <nods>

Sweet, nimh. Is it a genetic thing that men who giggle are also snugglers?

I smiled today bc I had a moment of peace walking down the street. Everything was all lovely and snowy, and the sky nice and bright, birds singing and the wonderful old trees still standing. Something clicked in me, and I just knew everything is gonna be okay. Spring is coming - and camping!! woo hoo!! can't wait. I've been feeling crappy, and lonely, and it was such a nice surprise to feel that way.

Also, I had some of the best friggin' coffee I've ever had today. It was a nice lil gift and it definetly lifted my spirits (and heartrate). Smile

Oh duh I almost forgot what I came back online for a coupla hours back!!

I met up with 'Susannah' in a new cafe that my Russian colleague tipped me about. She had to leave at 11 but we were still there a good few hours. Its the coolest! Its in this basement, sprawling across three rooms, but its all in Arab style. Nothing too fancy mind ya, they did it lo-budget, but still, you have the kinda rectangular sections you have in trad Hungarian cafes (where they'd be L-shaped booths around a table), but here you sit on the floor on all kinds of pillows, low coffeetable, and the 'booths' are separated by gauze, drapes, sandy colors. Nice to lounge in, to just (literally) hang around. (The two side rooms should be pretty discrete too..).

Meanwhile, the music they played was part-dubby, part Arab/African, and they played one of my all-time favourite rai songs (from Rachid Taha etc's 1,2,3 Soleil - a megahit, but not something you hear in Budapest) and my second fave African song (Premier Gaoue). But the coolest was that by ten, they have a group of musicians playing live, black singer and some musicians with trad Arab instruments, very nice vibes, and by then the place was totally full, with an interesting mix of people. Very un-Hungarian, all! Made me smile.

great fun today taking bailey and cleo - ebeth's dogs - for a walk in the snow .
they jumped arond, stuck their heads into the snowbanks, threw snow up in the air ... the seemed almost giddy ! big smiles on their faces - which got even bigger when we allowed them to have a few treats from the chinese food we had for lunch (yesterday's leftovers) . they were smacking their lips . hbg
