Brooke posting on A2K during a snowstorm. Doesn't get any better than that.

Hi cj ....
Normally I would be sick of snow by Feb. But Ohio was so mild in Jan, that it seemed like early spring.
Lovessssss to watch it snow.
Looking forward to there being a snowstorm here tomorrow - and knowing that I have plans to watch the Puppy Bowl tomorrow afternoon if going out to a concert doesn't pan out.
Hey, George, I was in the Fells.... were you?
Not going to church.
I'm bad.
No rain! We've had rain every day but two since mid-Dec and we are heartily sick of it!!!

I went by it, but not in it.
I was going to do a little of the Skyline Trail but thought it would be
mucky. Was it?

at least you won't have water restrictions as we do here!
true, margo, but it's a case of Which Would You Rather, is it not?
I saw a guy who was in college drama club with me in an ad during the Super Bowl.
He was the druid under the stairs in the Emerald Nuts ad.
I just read Gus' posting on page 2 of the Bulimics Make Me Puke thread - oh, my sides are sore from laughing!
This was this morning when I was all "happy and gay" in the words of the immortal Laurel Aitken:
Quote:
The sun is out, shining ebulliently on the thick blanket of snow thats covered the streets, cars and street lanterns overnight. People are out, on the square between church and school children are having a big snowball fight, the snow on the roof is melting so watch out where you walk as pancake-sized slaps of it are falling off the roof edges. The cardriver laconically waves you through as jumping into and out of the watery slush by the sidewalk edge you skid onto the street in front of him, a gangsta looking Hungarian teen walks up to his dark-haired girlfriend to kiss her on the cheek, and in the coffeeshop a familar face or two drifts in, homegirl from yesterday turns out to be working on some television arts production about Hungarian rock musicians and Zs is playing Nina Simone: I wish I knew how it would feel to be free / I wish I could break all the chains holding me / I wish I could share all the love thats in my heart / cause I'm way overdue / to be starting anew.
and also (but this was more of a giggle):
So last night, after saying goodbye to Esther at Oktogon, I walked home feeling a little desultory, ambling down the middle of the street as big flakes blanketed it with virgin snow. Wasnt sure about wanting to be home behind my computer so I decided to drop into Cafe E to see if Susannah was working. She wasnt but a bunch of people looked up and kinda laughed or smiled. I was like, what? ok, so I'm coming in from the cold, what? I went home, looked into the mirror and saw what they'd seen: my hair was fully covered with a literal, mounting inch-deep of snow..
This was more of a startled guffaw:

If there is no literal (read: fact-based) merit, why is there ANY merit?
That's like, well no there isn't such a thing as winged horses, but IF there were, she could take rides on them and that would cheer her right up!!
Yeah, that one made me grin, too!
Winter wonderland again. Big, fluffy flakes lazily dropping by the mass. Quiet, happy sounds: the cars drive real slow so they dont make a noise, footsteps tap only in that christmassy way, so the only thing you do hear is the shrieking or hollering from somewhere across the street or around the corner of guys or girls coming home from the pub and grabbing handfuls of snow for snowfights. Sweet.
Also, you know what's strange, if you notice it? So, you have your street by night right, noone there or almost; you have your street light hanging overhead, muffled, yellowbrown light, slightly swinging in the breeze or whatever. The snow falls diagonally. So while very leisurely falling towards the pavement, the snowflakes actually drop diagonally across underneath the lantern light. They make shadows like small dark spots on the white snow street. But get this: as they fall diagonally across underneath the light, slowly, their shadows, of course, are racing horizontally to keep up - and quite fast. So when you look down, you see these waves of dark specks like toy racing cars or a some mountain creek rushing downstream. Its a really funny effect! Especially if you walk down the road and just keep looking down, because of course the moment you walk from underneath one streetlight to underneath another, suddenly the direction the specks rush in changes, floop, they're all heading down the other way, lemmings with conflicting orders.
Trippy.
Also, since I was again picturesquely covered in snow like some Antarctic explorer and this time 'Susannah' was working in cafe E* i decided to drop by and say hi. She was delighted (as, for some reason, she has suddenly recently been), which is of course always nice; the place was full of happy people; and the barman (the burly one with the bald head except for the braid and the goatee) grabbed the bargirl for a dance to the tango CD and they swirled around the floor with gusto for a while.
Cute.
I've always loved winged horses.
The sky over Albuquerque as I drove back to my friends' house this afternoon. I don't remember a sky quite like that, and I've seen a lot of skies. Seemed to be columns of grey and white, not straight up and down and not fan shaped, but somewhat distinct.
Some good news at those friends' house.
The post office guy - described on the Osso and Pacco move to NM thread.
I heard that Neil Entwhistle has been arrested in England. I hope he gets extradited back here to the states!
Getting a note that Longdog's in town.
Making plans to brunch with her on Sunday.
Love that Longdog
I saw an out of sync goldfinch who is definitely going gold well before the daffodils open.
Either he made it through the last year or the genes for his early summer plumage were handed on to at least one offspring.
Global warming? That particular bird is ready.
