Going to the library. Eating mocha almond icecream.
It's been a hell of a bad day, but this definitely cheered me up.

Isn't it a pain when it gets stuck in your head? It never seems to disappear. I usually get this line stuck in my head:

"Owner of a lonely heart is much better than a owner of a broken heart."

Hard work and persistence have paid off for Nigel.

When he started high school he went out for fencing. It's a no-cut sport
and, alas, he got his father's athletic genes. But it's been great for him;
the coach is a fitness nut and runs their butts off.

He labored on the JV for two years and now he's a Junior. There aren't
many varsity guys at his weapon (foil) and he's gotten to move up and
fence with the varsity at several meets. He went 1 for 3 each meet
(mainly due to nervousness), but he learned a lot from the experience.

This past weekend he went with the team to a tournament at UNH. He
had 18 bouts! He won 17!

He's on cloud nine.

Owner of a lonely heart- I didn't become familiar with that song until a month or two ago.

Today I heard a great Chick Corea tune on the radio, traffic was light, and it looks like rain today ....I'm smiling.

went to the Superstars exhibit at the Kunsthalle in Museums Quartier here in Vienna. In one room there was a video projection of a cat walk with models and then lotsa things happened (some artsy schmartzy project, don't ask me) - BUT, the music in the background stabbed into me and clung. I had had had to find it and posses it immediately. I only remembered "you look to me like misty roses..." but i googled that, found it, downloaded it from itunes, and have been playing it on my computer ever since. It was Tim Hardin's Misty Roses. smiling at that.

...Michael.
It was actually really peculiar. He was trying to show me how 4=3, and he was going into a full-fledging explanation. It was amusing.

This happened a few days ago...

My husband and I are big tv people. We love cable tv, buy alot of dvd movies and watch them frequently, we watch documentaries of all kinds, he's into sports, I like home improvement shows, in other words, tv is a big part of our lives.

We bought a Phillips 42-inch projection tv from Best Buys about four years ago and we've been loving it ever since but back in August, the picture wasn't looking so good so we called in the repair people, utilizing the Service Plan that we had purchased and renewed every year.

Well, between that first visit and about two weeks ago, four different repair groups have been out here to fix it, parts have been ordered, but nothing and no one has been able to correct the problem and according to the Service Plan, after three attempts, Best Buys is supposed to replace the set.

They gave us the run-around, no doubt about that but we remained calm, I kept hearing my father's voice reminding me that "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" (or something like that) and we didn't blow up at any of the countless people we were directed to talk to, retelling the same story over and over again and again and finally, at long last, they agreed to replace the set.

We went to Best Buys on Tuesday of last week and received credit for 1300.00, the price of the television they were replacing. My husband settled on a 52-inch Mitsubishi widescreed HD Projection TV. Beautiful picture. The only snag was that brand new it cost 2400.00. But the saleman was willing to let us 'have' the floor model for 1689.00. There were a few scratches on the body which really bothered me but the deal was a good one, with our 1300.00 credit this really great tv would cost us less than 400.00, so I reluctantly agreed. We stood at the exchange desk for almost an hour, going over everything yet again and then the registers went down and they couldn't find any info on us and it was one thing after the other but we were patient and they finally, finally, got it together and let us get out of there.

Well guess what!!?? The new set was delivered two days later and they sent us a BRAND SPANKING NEW TV!! IN THE BOX!! Brand new!! We got a 2400.00 TV for less than 400.00.

I'm still smiling... Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

eoe- I love stories like that...

I'm going out for dinner tonight, and then on to the theatre (Vincent in Brixton) with my husband. I love theatre nights. On the 22nd we're off to see Absurd Person Singular... comedies are my fave. I'm feeling good, too, because I don't work Fridays, so today is my last day of not-so-hard-work Smile
