Ha! Hey, did you get my phone message?
just checking (didn't press *1)
Whats *1 do? Is it something cool?

Other folk want to know, too, k!
I bet *1 is a way to set/get notification when someone picks up your message. You have subscribe to the same online message service though, or at least use the same carrier.
What made me smile today? Well, it's 7:40 AM and I'm already really done with work for the day. I can just sit here and bang on A2K for seven more hours.
nooooo. only sometimes when people don't press *1 when leaving a message on my cellphone, my cellphone will refuse to inform me that I have a new message. I'll have to find the message by pure chance.
cj, what kind of a job is that? i want in on that! that's how i imagine my ideal employment.
trying on all the garments i bought while hanging up flyers around town.... this was the most expensive discount i ever got!
Sounds like you need a new cellphone plan.
Me, I do systems administration, so I had to come in early to make some changes before all the developers show up. Now I get to sit around and wait for them to complain that something we did affected their ability to work.
get an electric zapper. they'll stop complaining quick.
I got another raise yesterday. And it was substantial. :-D
It coincided with my decision to just enroll in school and let the chips fall where they may, and it's very much welcome in that the additional revenue should keep some chips from fallin'...
I was making minimum wage a little over 2 years ago...
Life has been good, and I've fared much better in this job market than I should on paper.
signing on to a2k for the first time in a long time
Schoo, Cravenl? That is university? Raise?
Great!!!!!!!!!!
You have fared as your capacity indicates.
Congratulations.
That is, as you say, a long way in a short time.
I'll likely enroll in private courses shortly (i.e. within this month) and start taking college classes by September.
Private courses????
Anyhoo - sounds good - got ideas about WHAT you might study?
I wish, craven, that I had a tenth, nay a hundredth, of the knowledge that you have about all things computers. Thanks to you, I have met folks who can talk cogently (and politely) about art, literature, science, politics and a myriad of other topics. What are you going to study?
A really good haircut! My first in a year. The one last year was at a salon with really nice people but the cut was kind of eh. It was really meant to be blow-dried straight, and I don't WANT to blow-dry my hair straight every day. Well, make that ever.
I have kinda wavy hair, not straight and not curly, and hairdressers always try to force it one way or the other and it doesn't work. They cut it for curliness (which has to be enforced with curling irons) and it falls flat 90% of the time -- or they cut it for straightness (which has to be enforced with blowdrying + such) and it kinks up and looks weird.
Since the salon people were so nice I decided to give it one more try before giving up on them. Described exactly what I wanted. (No blowdrying straight. Wash and airdry with no particular frippery, maybe some sort of light non-icky product. Still long but not so heavy -- want to wear it down without it just kind of hanging there. Kinda boho would be good.)
So the salon person was super nice and listened, and did a great job!! She has the same kind of hair (wavy) and gets it. I've never had such short layers in my life (as short as about 8 inches I think), but those are few and overall it's still long (to bottom of shoulderblades or so), just nice and light and with lots of movement and I can tuck it behind my ears and function fine. Main goal was to keep it long but escape ponytail tyrrany -- I've worn ponytails pretty much every day for the last 4.5 years because long hair worn down + babies just don't mix.
Um. This maybe belongs on "What are you wearing today?" or something more style-oriented. Anyway, makes me smile.
Good news, Craven! Go get 'em.
A good haircut is a lovesome thing, god wot!
That is great, Craven! Pretty soon you'll know so much that none of us will be able to keep up with you on ANY subject! (Take it easy on us, okay?)
Smiling, thinking about the hard time he's gonna give the professors. <snicker> God help any graduate assistant that has to teach him!
Smiling at Eva's point about Craven in school.....
