@cicerone imposter,
That's great Cicerone! My point exactly.

Not many people would dare to draw a cartoon making fun of Hillary's hair. That would be sexist.

@maxdancona,
But its perfectly O K to call her a crook, and dishonest and claim she should be executed for her supposed crimes?

@RABEL222,
Yes. If it is OK to call male presidential candidates "crooks" or "dishonest" or claim that they should be executed for their supposed crimes, then it is OK to do the same thing to a female presidential candidate. (See campaigns of McCain, Romney and George W. Bush).

The point here is equality. Are you suggesting that Hillary be the only candidate in the history of the Republic since George Washington to not be attacked for perceived weaknesses and character flaws?

The idea that women need to be protected from criticism (that male candidates always face) seems backwards to me.

S/he'd be a fatter, older Anne Coulter with tiny hands? I watched the 'highlights' of the Rob Lowe celebrity roast. I don't think s/he'd get much of a free ride.

@hingehead,
Yeah, anyone who knows Coulter knows that she's an even closer likeness for him than Palin, both in her penchant for controversial remarks and in her complexion. Good call.

Soooooo... just so I am clear on this... so long as it's a woman that disagrees with your own political philosophy it's ok to bash her appearance? I mean just for future purposes...

@McGentrix,
I didn't bash Coulter's appearance. She and Trump both have fair complexions. Nothing is intrinsically wrong with that.

@McGentrix,
Leaving aside that my comments were purely based on how I expect the media would respond to a female Trump and moving on to my personal thoughts:

If she had orange skin and a bizarre hair do - it would be OK to raise them (regardless of her political opinions) BUT they can't be used as an argument against the validity of her opinions.

Likewise if Bernie Sanders turned up with a botoxed forehead definitely raise it - make fun of it - but don't use it as an argument against his political message (but it might provide evidence of character).

But derogations of primary and secondary sexual organs is a no-go for either gender of any political persuasion IMHO.

@Kolyo,
Coulter appeared on C4 News, the most pointless person they've ever interviewed. She didn't answer any questions or shed any light on the political situation in America she just shouted very loudly about Bill Clinton being a rapist.

She's a really stupid woman, hopefully she won't appear on C4 News again. I've written my letter of complaint, and I'm not the only one.

@izzythepush,
Hey Iz, did you catch the Coulter highlights reel of the Celebrity roast?

I wanted to know if it made you feel as uncomfortable as I did - I'm wondering if that's a fundamental difference in the anglo v american psyche. I couldn't enjoy it. I was amazed how Jimmy Carr could 'rise' to the level of discourse. How very un English. Hmmm - something's wrong if I'm sharing character traits with pommy bastards Wink

@izzythepush,
Has there been another time where you have refused to believe the story of a woman who claimed to be a victim of rape? It seems like Bill Clinton may have gotten a pass on rape from his supporters who generally take rape very seriously.

Juanita Broaddrick has a credible story that she has been telling consistently for a very long time.

@hingehead,
I don't get roasts either, maybe it's because our comedians take the piss out of each other all the time there's no need for one.

I must admit I've never seen Coulter before she appeared on C4. She seriously misjudged her audience, instead of talking about the republican response to certain revelations she went on to broadcast mode and started shouting that Bill Clinton was a rapist. She sounded deranged.

I'm not that keen on Jimmy Carr either.

Adam Hills is doing a brilliant job covering the Paralympics for The Last Leg right now.

@izzythepush,
No doubt we'll get these last leg eps in a month's time as usual.

You know Ben Elton migrated to Australia? Is that a fair swap for Adam?

@hingehead,
If you'd asked me back in the 80s I'd have said No, but now Ben's best days look behind him, (although Upstart Crow is very good.)

These last legs are a bit different, they're like the originals, on every day of the Paralympics and about the Paralympians.

It was never intended to be a topical news show, but it's just that good.

Based on the fact that in this election Hillary is facing a candidate that engenders great emotion from many, some might be giving Hillary a "pass," since the opposing candidate is so anathema? Jill Stein seems to be a forthcoming candidate. She though might only take votes away from Hillary?

@maxdancona,
All things considered it's preferable to be the first woman (of a major party) running for president than it is to be just some male schlub.

Are there no downsides to being a woman candidate? Of course there are, but in assessing the overall picture one has to consider all factors and not just the ones that confirm one's bias.

She gets to have it both ways and claim sexism all the time. So if a man attempts, in socially developed means, to establish dominance over her, he's a sexist.

If he makes fun of her pants suits, he's a sexist.

The vast majority of journalists in this country are bending over backwards to avoid having what they write about her (praise or critical) to be deemed sexist.

It's a big advantage, as is the cache of being the first Female President of the USA

Will it decide the election?

No
