@ossobucotemp,
Re abortion, but also the rest of life -
I have a friend who had an abortion in Tijuana back in the day. I've no idea if that was a competent place; it might have been; she wasn't a dummy and would have researched, but research was different back then.
I had invited my friends to a gathering at my first apartment. In memory, that was quite a night. These were mostly long time personal friends.
My first apartment was a tack on place to a legal duplex, small, with an obnoxious neighbor (that was the playboy bunny of the year, that year).
The apartment was tiny, a bedroom where I got to hear yelling noises through what must have been the old door, a sink which may or may not have been the font of all the cockroaches; some small refrigerator I can't visualize now, and a bathroom. The place was on a good street, doable re money. I caught on it was illegal and started apt hunting, which ended well.
But the party - one of my friends who made a big effort to show up had had an abortion in TJ that day or the day before: I think I remember it was that day. I didn't know until she clued me in. She was a in quite a state but wanted to connect, didn't stay long.
She later met a more interesting man, and they are now married a barrel of years.
A while later another friend showed, balloon pregnant. She was a mess too, husband a gambler and fond of secretaries, which I learned later. She too is ok now.
I don't think these friends met each other.
Looking back, I wish they did at some point, if not right then.
Me, I was with a fellow I was fond of but did not want to marry. He knew that.
