@engineer,
I saw Serena, Will Smith and Venus in an interview promoting the movie. One thing they said is that the actress who played young Serena was actually left-handed and had to learn to play right-handed just for the movie. They were saying how difficult that was and how impressively she pulled it off.

I liked a lot about this movie.

@snood,
I was really impressed by the tennis the actors played. It looked like they really were hitting the ball well.

@engineer,
Jon Bernthal (actor that plays tennis coach Rick Macci) says he’s become like a tennis fanatic now, playing all the time.

Just finished watching 'Land' - Robin Wright's directorial debut movie about a traumatized woman who chooses to live secluded in the wild. It made me think about what's important in this life, and made me want to go hiking. There's a good story involving how she survives, and a friend she makes out there in the sticks.

@eurocelticyankee,
I tried to watch episode 1 of The Witcher, but it just seemed kind of hokey.
I think I was spoiled for all other swords and sorcery fantasies by Game of Thrones.

But if you recommend it, I’ll give it another look.

Two Jon Bernthal movies to check out, if you haven’t seen them:

Fury
Small Engine Repair

@snood,
I liked it, it's based on a computer game which itself is based on a Polish writer's works.

The Last Duel was a very impressive movie to me. The story is told in three parts, from the three different perspectives of the man accused of rape, the woman accusing, and the husband who will defend her honor. I was riveted right through to the end.
It's based on a true story about the last duel that was actually sanctioned by the rulers of the day.
Good stuff.

The Unforgivable is a movie on Netflix just out today.
Sandra Bullock stars. Also Vincent D’Onofrio, Richard Thomas, Viola Davis, and Jon Bernthal.
Hell of a cast. Hell of a story.
Back when Bullock won her Oscar for The Blind Side, I thought she didn’t deserve it. But this movie and others she’s been in have made a believer out of me.

The Power of the Dog. It's a sort of leisurely paced period piece - and then it gets a little strange.
Benjamin Cumberbatch is great; Kirsten Dunst is, too.
There's a twist that changes everything.

We watched that about a week or so ago. I found it unsettling but I still am recovering from a bout of illness and might just not have the stamina. I agree that the actors were fabulous (it was just a tad depressing).

We've been watching that as well, I've always been a Dexter fan (And originally I thought I would hate it)

Season 6 of Peaky Blinders is out early next year. Teasers say Alfie Solomons will be in it, and he's my favourite character.

I'm looking forward to that, we really enjoyed the earlier seasons.

@snood,
We are spoiled for choice this Christmas unlike the cinematic drought we endured last year.

You should give the Witcher a go Snood, Game of Thrones it's not but there will never be another GOT, that said they're going to give it a shot with the prequel House of the Dragon. Have you seen the very brief trailer. Due out next year.

Talk about swords and sorcery I'm 2 episodes into a new Amazon series The Wheel of Time. So far so good, Rosamund Pike heads the cast.
Their Orcs as such are called Trollocs which is load of b******s. Smile
Seriously though I'm enjoying it.

@eurocelticyankee,
I watched almost the entire first episode of Wheel. Didn’t really grab me.
I’ve got to stop comparing everything to GoT.

I do like Rosamund Pike a lot.

If you haven’t seen her in the western Hostiles, check it out.

@snood,
I seen Hostiles. Good movie.

My favourite Rosamund Pike movie would have to be Gone Girl.

The Expanse final season started this week on Prime.
Excellent show, I'm going to let a few episodes drop and then binge watch them.

Star Trek Discovery season 4 is currently airing. It took till season 3 to find itself but now it's pretty good.
Snood I don't know if you're a Trekkie (like myself) or one of those weird Star Wars fans.

@eurocelticyankee,
I’m a dyed in the wool Trekkie! But just for the original series and the movies. I own all three seasons of TOS on disc, and I still watch re-mastered reruns on Amazon Prime!

Never liked Star Wars, or understood the hype.

@eurocelticyankee,
Rosamund Pike plays an evil villainess in ‘I Care a Lot’(2020).
I had never seen her like that before.
Seen that one?
