I took my youngest to see Kong Skull Island in IMAX 3D on Monday. It was a load of old bollocks, but enjoyable enough and quite a spectacle.

"Hacksaw Ridge is a 2016 biographical war drama film about the World War II experiences of Desmond Doss, an American pacificist combat medic who was a Seventh-day Adventist Christian, refusing to carry or use a firearm or weapons of any kind. Doss became the first conscientious objector to be awarded the Medal of Honor, for service above and beyond the call of duty during the Battle of Okinawa."

so, sci-Fi

@djjd62,
Sometimes Hollywood war biographies are sci-fi but I'm satisfied that Hacksaw Ridge is not.
There are some script changes to make it more compelling but they are minor.
All in all a good job by Mel Gibson.

@panzade,
Try to see it in IMAX if you can. The cinematography is really impressive. (And have a wee before the pic starts, I didn't and had to run out part way through because I couldn't hang on to the end.)

@izzythepush,
Jodorowsky's Dune (2013)
For an infamous film project that never got beyond the preproduction stage, Jodorowsky's Dune has its DNA scattered throughout the world of Hollywood science fiction movies.

@ehBeth,
Oh my goodness.

That was an amazing film. I understand the good ratings it's been getting.

How can you joke about the Holocaust? Can you joke about the Holocaust?

My view of Sarah Silverman changed very much tonight.

@tsarstepan,
In 2013? Was the failed film attempted in 2013 or was a documentary about a failed film made in 2013?

@izzythepush,
If you see the year in parenthesis behind the title, it's the format that IMDb uses for the year a given movie or documentary has finished production and post-production (bringing the film to completion).

According to the documentary, the director was trying to make Dune back in 1975.

@tsarstepan,
That makes sense. I've read the 1st book, none of the others, although I had a mate who was really into the whole series, bit too into it if I'm being honest. Despite Sting I quite enjoyed the David Lynch version.

The FanEdit "Dune: The Alternative Edition Redux" by Spicediver makes the Lynch version a billion times better.

It fixes every problem with the movie while still including everything that makes the Lynch version worthwhile.

@oralloy,
I've seen four of the five Oscar nominated best animated feature films. The Red Turtle (2016) is the last one I need to see.

The French language animated feature, My Life as a Zucchini (2016), 9/10. It was preceded with a adorably, silly, good-natured animated short film:
Le génie de la boîte de raviolis (2006)
