@thompsonmax,
I don’t go to the theaters much anymore except to watch the odd war movie now and then(Dunkirk)
I saw Long Shot last night with Seth Rogan and my secret crush Charlize Theron.
It was odd.
She was gorgeous.

@farmerman,
We watched "Once upon a time in Hollywood" tonight, we are both Tarentino fans...even when his movies veer off into fantastical, we find the cinematography, the attention to detail, and the flights of fancy very entertaining. I enjoyed the movie, check out the 10 year old actress Ms. Butters, she was fantastic.

@glitterbag,
I couldn’t watch it because of the way he depicted Bruce Lee.

A scene that lasted 3 or 4 minutes in a film that's basically a historical revisionism of what happened between Charles Manson, his cult and the Sharon Tate murders? This is the hill to die on?

You're decrying a very forgettable part of this almost 3 hour hour long movie? Your loss because he doesn't really make Bruce Lee sound THAT bad. The whole Bruce Lee controversy was silly and overblown.

Well, thanks for your opinion. There are a lot who share mine. Including Lee’s family. I’m not “dying” on any “hill” - just registering my opinion that Tarantino depicted a man who is widely revered as possibly the greatest martial artist ever as a cocky loudmouth who is beaten in a fight with a stuntman.

It’s not the first time nor will it be the last Tarentino’s “artistic license” led him to needlessly **** on some things. Everyone doesn’t feel the same way about his treatment of black people in his works. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. He has every right to every irreverent thing he wants to produce and I know he has a lot of fans who have every right to their positive opinion of him.

One man’s genius visionary film maker is another man’s arrogant overrated dumbass.

@snood,
If it makes any difference, the fight scene is a flashback as told by an unreliable stuntman who is cocky himself. It is implied that the fight did not happen exactly as it was told, so that Brad Pitt's character can make himself look good. His other flashback with his ex wife also didn't show all the details, so that he can look innocent.

Oddly enough, Tarantino was more respectful to Sharon Tate's portrayal. There is even a scene where Tate was training with Bruce Lee for her role in the "Wrecking Crew".

@Rebelofnj,
Thanks for the info.

Tarentino’s portrayal of Bruce Lee as a cocky punk directly reflects Tarentino’s stated opinion about the man. When asked in interviews about the family’s concerns, Tarentino has repeated several times that his portrayal was pretty accurate because from everything he’s heard Lee was an arrogant guy who bullied people.

Which, from any account about Lee I’ve ever seen is a big lie.

@tsarstepan,
I don't think it helps anything to tell someone they should kind of suck it up and watch the movie. Snood said what his objection is, I have my own laundry list of things I find dull or disrespectful, no one should have to sit thru three hours of anything if they don't want to.

Most of Tarantino's films are a mix of dark comedy, ridiculous situations, disturbing albeit entertaining experiences. However in this film, Tarentino mixes up completely fictional characters, with real people and that can be a turn off for some people. Originally, I didn't want to see the film just because the Manson family was included and I didn't want to any of those people portrayed as amusing or quirky or sympathetic in any way.

All that being said, I did like this movie...........Snood shouldn't be urged to overlook his objections because you or I found it funny....especially over something as sensitive as distressing the family members of the deceased.

@Lash,
We watched the movie last night and both Mrs F and I found it quite derivtive of his own recent movie. The idea of chnging the outcome of the Mnson Fmily murders (or lack thereof) is just another version of "Inglorious Basterds" (It works once very well, twice, it gets old quickly).

I did like the Mrs Butters kid, and I thought the pit bull had the best scenes in the movie.

Tarantino is often quite good, not so much in this one. It was kinda boring on the most part, punctuated by gratuitous violence and very obvious revionism.

Critics were split also. What the hell, We wont change each others opinions.

Whats the big del with the Bruce Lee scene?? Its a MOVIE MAKE_BELIEVE, not a documentary.

@farmerman,
The Two Popes is now on Netflix. Jonathan Pryce as Pope Francis and Anthony Hopkins as Pope Benedict? Heavenly bliss. The back and forth between them two is quite funny.

Pryce gave one of the best performances of 2019. Hellfire shall reign down if he is snubbed a lead actor nomination.

Star Wars 6: Return of the Jedi

Specifically, 4K83, a 4K scan of an original 35mm print from the 1980s (with none of these later changes that that moron Lucas keeps introducing to ruin the films) that was struck directly from the original negative.

I strongly advise people to watch Return of the Jedi again before watching Episode 9 in theaters.

I strongly advise people to watch one of the latest revisions of 4K83 whenever they watch Return of the Jedi.

Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens, 3D

I think most screen writing is phoned in these days.

I’m so surprised at how much I love this movie. It really renewed my appreciation for Pope Francis—and makes me want to broaden my information about Benedict.
