Can’t wait! Going to see Queen and Slim today - sort of a black modern day Bonnie and Clyde. Hopefully my high anticipation doesn’t taint my viewing. In any case will report if I like it.
For a more traditional big studio Oscarbait flick, I suspect more people here would be interested in Ford v Ferrari (2019). Incredible performances by both Matt Damon and Christian Bale. Damn exhilarating editing and story.
It’s on my list too. Love the subject about the competition between Ford and Ferrari and quite interested in racing, too.
We just saw the modern-mystery “Knives Out ” last night. Best movie this year, IMHO. The fun part is that You can’t guess how this movies twists and turns. Quite a few of clapped at the end.

Knives Out will likely be in my top 10 from 2019. Super funny and well written. Daniel Craig is a hoot.
Haven't seen it yet but will try. This is getting the feminosphere all excited.

Saw Queen and Slim. Hesitated to talk about it here; honestly don’t know who here can appreciate this particular picture. But it is very timely and especially, deeply affecting to any person of color who has faced the dilemma of how to cooperate with a certain kind of cop.
I didn't see it but according to a review or two, there is a few weird pretentious scenes. One being a pretty graphic sex scene interlaced with some riot scene? That plus the remainder of the review plus the Kanye West music kept me from pulling the trigger and seeing it last weekend.
I'm still game to watch it on streaming. Went to the movie 69 times already. And this one ain't a priority to see at the movie theater with what's left of December and what will be coming soon as well.
Comment accompanying the clip:
(make sure you don't miss the last 37 seconds)
In BUtterfield 8, when Elizabeth Taylor's Sunbeam Alpine sprints across the Tappan Zee Bridge, through a roadblock, and off a cliff, it results in a very short, very weird, completely mesmerizing crash. Personally, I think it's better and gayer (i.e. more fabulous) than the one in Mahogany. And you can tell Miss Ross I said so.
Yes. Definately better than the last 30 seconds of this....
Watched Atlantics (2019) on Netflix. Rating it a 9/10 on IMDb.
Go in KNOWING very little about it. It's slow and deliberate but well done. And it could make history by being the first Oscar nomination for Foreign Language film come this Oscar season.
