Now that we are becoming free from the Trump yoke, it's easier to reflect on how this happened in the first place. Timothy Snyder in a speech 5 years ago makes everything clearer.
"The worrying thing is that partisanship can trump patriotism. That's the worrying thing. If we look back to 2016, there are signal moments when the enmity between Republicans and Democrats opened a flank which invited Russian attack."
"Partisanship: the idea that the other party is a bigger problem than foreign adversaries, that opens up a huge flank, that makes American sovereignty vulnerable in a way that it hadn't been before."
"For all of us, regardless of our position on policy issues, it seems to me, it ought to be a fundamental question, is the United States a sovereign country or not? Is the United States a sovereign country. Are we going to do the things we need to do to defend our independence? That comes first. After that we can disagree about policy. ... we have a lot of soul searching to do about the loss of American sovereignty. Now, is it all the Russians fault? Why were we so vulnerable to this? That's the question that has just begun."

@Walter Hinteler,
I think he’s right. The SU, in my opinion, was too vast and rural (an opinion not based on knowledge, but trying to say not enough lucrative industry) to keep trying to match all the money Reagan was throwing at nuclear defense. We outspent them on purpose.
I had great hopes for glasnost and perestroika. I hoped success for Gorby.
Eh.
I thought Socialism might be an improvement to this unrestrained Capitalism that’s destroying the US, but my bairn has finally convinced me—corruption can wreck Socialism as easily as it can Capitalism.
The video on that link is by Kei Pritsker. His party's (Party for Socialism and Liberation [PSL]) goal is to lead a revolution paving the way towards socialism, under which a "new government of working people" would be formed. Interestingly, the PSL blames the reforms initiated by Mikhail Gorbachev for the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
Interesting that the word "blame" would be used. At very least the word "acknowledges" should have been...although even better would have been "is given credit for."
I agree with Lash that Jesus was a communist...albeit before the word "communist" was coined.
I doubt communism will ever work, but I would LOVE to see lots of socialism be incorporated into our capitalistic system...and I would welcome government competing with capitalistic entities for many jobs they do not compete presently.

There are some even stronger and more examples at their Liberation News. (Or just follow Lash's posts.)

I do not want to declare now whether Jesus was the forerunner of Marx and/or Engels.
My answer above referred to the fact that you called socialism but meant communism.
Well, actually, I was referring to this:
Quote:

Congress’ Secret Motto
All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.
George Orwell, Animal Farm
Capitalism, explained:
Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals. He sets them to work, he gives back to them the bare minimum that will prevent them from starving, and the rest he keeps for himself.
George Orwell, Animal Farm
Lash’s Ultimate Take-Away after 60 years on earth
Four legs good, two legs bad.
George Orwell, Animal Farm
Anthony Fauci, hot mic at WH PRESS Conference
The only good human being is a dead one.
George Orwell, Animal Farm
Rationale for decades of Defunding Education:
Several of them would have protested if they could have found the right arguments.
AOC, explaining why rail workers don’t really need paid sick days
This work was strictly voluntary, but any animal who absented himself from it would have his rations reduced by half.
George Orwell, Animal Farm
Nancy Pelosi, House Commandant
No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon (Nancy) that all animals are equal. (S)He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be?

Man serves the interests of no creature except himself.

George Orwell wrote:
The word Fascism has now no meaning except in so far as it signifies "something not desirable"...In the case of a word like democracy, not only is there no agreed definition, but the attempt to make one is resisted from all sides. It is almost universally felt that when we call a country democratic we are praising it: consequently the defenders of every kind of regime claim that it is a democracy, and fear that they might have to stop using the word if it were tied down to any one meaning. (...) even the people who recklessly fling the word ‘Fascist’ in every direction attach at any rate an emotional significance to it. By ‘Fascism’ they mean, roughly speaking, something cruel, unscrupulous, arrogant, obscurantist, anti-liberal and anti-working-class. Except for the relatively small number of Fascist sympathizers, almost any English person would accept ‘bully’ as a synonym for ‘Fascist’. That is about as near to a definition as this much-abused word has come.

The terminology is all lifted from Ancient Rome.
The Roman Republic was ruled by two Consuls, each of those was elected for one year.
Their badge of office was a bundle of twigs known as the fasces which they took it in turns to hold.
The fasces symbolised the unity of the people. One twig could be easily broken, but a bundle could not.
The Republic also had provision for one person to take over in times of crisis. That person was called a Dictator. Julius Caesar was a Dictator of Rome. He was never an Emperor.
Mussolini took all of this for his Fascist party, symbols from the Roman Republic, before the emperors.

It's all kicking off in Brazil right now.
Bolsanaro's supporters are storming the Capitol just like Trump's supporters did.
Interesting to see how Lash will spin this after her mealy mouthed support of Lula.
Excerpt:
Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Hundreds of supporters of Brazil's right-wing former President Jair Bolsonaro stormed the country's Congress, Supreme Court and Planalto Presidential Palace on Sunday to protest the election of Lula da Silva and calling for a military intervention to overthrow him.

@Lash,
Thanks for that video, Lash.
I wonder what the response--er, I mean reaction from deniers will be.
Criminal Trespass (Third Degree) (Misdemeanor Only) A person commits criminal trespassing in the third degree when a person:
- Enters or remains unlawfully on any real property after the owner or any other person with lawful control over the property has asked you to leave.
A potential defense to criminal trespass in Arizona is if the person lacked the "intent" to trespass. In other words, the person accused of criminal trespass didn't mean to trespass upon another person's property, and did so by accident. To establish this, the accused trespasser must show that they were not aware that they were unlawfully entering someone else's property.
The reporter had to be asked to leave before he can be accused of trespassing.
Unlawful arrest also means unlawful assault. The police attending would likely face prosecution and lose their jobs, and for police - risk spending jail time for such a blatant breach of civil rights. It is highly unlikely this is the case, which means by far the mostly likely truth is, your journo is flat out lying.
Do you not bother even checking how the articles you post would play out - to see whether the person is telling anything close to the truth?

I had no reason to double check the veracity of this article. It made sense to me. It turns out to be correct. What is very odd to me is why you immediately thought the black reporter was lying.

Absolutely shocking’: Traveler records airport police threatening to arrest Southwest customers
BY MYE OWENS AND NEXSTAR MEDIA WIRE 12/29/22 11:43 AM ET
Excerpt:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A family flying out of Nashville International Airport (BNA) documented their encounter with an airport police officer who was threatening to arrest a group of passengers waiting for details about their delayed Southwest Airlines flight.
“I thought that it would be best to start recording ’cause I wasn’t sure what was going to happen,” said Amani Robinson, who filmed the exchange.
