Quote:
Question: Mr. President, you've been governor and a president, so you have a unique experience looking at it from two directions. What do you think tribal sovereignty means in the twenty first century and how do we resolve conflicts between tribes and the federal and state governments?

Bush: Yeah, uh, tribal sovereignty means that. It's sovereign. You're a… you're a…You've been given sovereignty, and your…viewed as a sovereign entity. And, therefore, the relationship between the federal government and the tribes is one between s…sovereign entities.

Genius, pure genius. I posted this because I believe our president should have intelligence enough to understand the complexities of the decisions he makes. And, to put it in language even our president could understand, Bush ain't got none.

If you have any quotes that you feel exemplify the intelligence of our president, please post them here. I'd like to see some that show some degree of intelligence, but somehow the only ones that I expect will be from scripted speeches. Off the cuff, I challenge anyone to find a quote that shows him to be thoughtful or intelligent.

P.S. this thread was inspired by this thread.

Another one.

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." -- George W. Bush, August 5, 2004

Karl Rove can match Dubya:

"As people do better, they start voting like Republicans...
...unless they have too much education and vote Democratic,
which proves there can be too much of a good thing."

I like it from the beginning: vote "like" Republicans. Does that mean with malice aforethought or voting under different names?

"Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns - the ones we don't know we don't know"

Donald Rumsfeld

I think someone set that one to music. It's really quite beautiful. I think Rummy will be a poet when he's done blowing things up.

Bush:

"I'm concerned about the rights of human feces? "

Especially if they're used to fertilize vegetables in Mexico?

Peter Jennings: If you believe that life begins at conception, is even a first-trimester abortion not murder?

John Kerry: No, because it's not the form of life that takes personhood in the terms that we have judged it to be in the past. It's the beginning of life. Does life begin? Yes, it begins.

--Interview with ABC News anchor Peter Jennings in Detroit on 7/22/04

And you've got companies like Wal-Mart that are stripping underneath them, that hire part-time people, that have actually advertised to come and work, so they won't do their health care.

-- John Kerry in a Democratic presidential debate sponsored by CNN and the Los Angeles Times, and moderated by Larry King.
