Don't lie. You put people on ignore when your "I think what that other guy thinks" routine fails and you are unable to bluff your way through a conversation.

I put vicious, insulting people on ignore only if I can't come up with a great comeback. Consequently, I've never put anyone on ignore.

I've never been very creative. I'm just good at facts.

I used to put namecallers on ignore when my factual rebuttals to their namecalling got really tedious and repetitive.

But now that the moderators are stricter about removing name-calling, I don't do that anymore. There are some people still on my ignore list because I'm too lazy to go take them off, but I always display an ignored post now when I come across it.

To shut down a troll is a greater challenge than to catch an aligator. Aligators are also harder to find in these parts.

But trolls are almost never shut down.

I enjoy a good put-down IF there is some degree of valuable and original wit involved and if there is some beauty in the narrative devices used. And if the writer, by his/her nature does not wish to be cruel. However, such parameters are rarely in place in these contests.
