@msolga,
I missed it too.

I'm sorry for your loss, msolga. I'm also sorry that you're troubled by "what ifs" and "if onlys". I hope, in time, you find peace with your thoughts.

@JPB,
Thank you for your kindness, Deb, soz, Swimpy, djjd, & JPB.
And thanks to those of you who have emailed & PM-ed your commiserations.
I'm sorry I haven't been able to respond to the most recent ones just yet.
But I want you know that I have really been touched by your thoughts and that they have meant a lot to me.

@msolga,
I'm afraid I missed this thread, too. I'm so sorry to hear about your mother's passing, msolga. You are right -- no matter what the circumstances, it is never easy.

I hope that with time, many of the difficulties of your relationship will be forgotten and replaced with more pleasant memories. Time often has a way of being kind about things like that.

Wishing you peace and strength to get through these difficult days...

@neko nomad,
I'm so sorry to hear of Nekochan's passing. She was such a beauty. I always loved seeing pictures you posted of her.

When I lost a kitty some years back, I framed a favorite picture of her and hung it near her favorite spot. Seeing her there made me feel a little better for the first few months.

RIP, Nekochan.

@Eva,
Why, thanks ever so much, Eva; oh, we're doing fine now - DW, Molly, and I.
Didn't want to pour out any grief - only to outline how Nekochan made her exit
with well earned payback attendance to a dearly loved companion.

Molly's restive at being kept indoors because of the extreme cold outdoors.

Wishing everyone a good day.

@Eva,
I just want to say a quick thank you to everyone who has made contact with me over the past week & a bit.
Your messages have been a great source of comfort & I've really appreciated being in your thoughts.
The funeral was yesterday (a traditional Ukrainian ceremony). It is a huge relief now that it is finally over.
The world looks much gentler this morning.

Thank you, again.
You are very kind & thoughtful folk.

@neko nomad,
Yes, I am getting better weather than that, neko. (though I must say, your garden does look very pretty with that layer of snow! )

Keep warm, that's my best advice!

(also, I worry about your neighbourhood chipmunk. Sad )

@msolga,
How are you feeling, MsOlga? I can imagine that the void that your mother's
passing created, can be overpowering.

@CalamityJane,
I'm not doing too badly at all, Jane. Thank you for asking.
More than anything else, I am so relieved that my mother is no longer suffering terrible pain.

...and I'm plodding along here (in a bit of a daze) in the heat & humidity of this weird summer ... (More rain than I can remember, ever, for this time of year! Feels more like the tropics than Melbourne.)

But how are you?
That's what I want to know! Smile

@msolga,
I actually feel great, MsOlga. My resolution for the New Year was to abstain
from sugar and after a few days of cravings, I actually can see family members eat sweets without a restraining jacket. I have a terrible sweet tooth and over the holidays it got a bit too much. I'll see how long it will last, but for the moment I feel content without sugar.
