...& that's that's perfectly OK, Deb. It can (& does) temporarily become about any one of us, for any number of reasons. Especially when there's concern about how someone's getting along/coping. Or we want to commiserate, or share someones good fortune, or ... Smile

Anyway, I'm hoping you're feeling at least a wee bit better today.

I agree with MsOlga. (And maybe I should make this my new sig line.) Vent away, Deb -- you're the one with the most interesting, er, changes in your well-being.

Oh, stop it already, every one of us here cares excruciatingly about you, Dowan. Get over that. Now, then, how to get better, I've less advice. Just consider me and the rest of us here as present.

I ain't leaving until you're ok, deb. That's it.

Not moving to a thread about books. Right here until when I ask you, "So how are YOU today?" you say "fine," and I believe you.

Yep - there's nothing we'd rather do right now!

Friday night - I'm sitting here, listening to the Rolling Stones, and wondering how you're doing?

Looks like our Bunny is having keyboard problems (again) so is unable to post much - if at all. I received a very short email message this morning, in response to a couple of mine, yesterday. Bugger! I miss hearing from her here! Sad

I'm guessing you can still read A2K, Deb, even if you can't post? If so, good luck with the doctor today & here's hoping there's a little less (at least!) back pain today. Hang in there!

Thinking of you & hoping that keyboard problem is resolved soon. (Like me to post you a new keyboard? Wink Would that fix the problem?)

@msolga,
dropped full cup of coffee on keyboard

just got new weird wavy one which means i have to re-learn all that muscle memory

also eating so no capitals or punctuation

very bad couple of days...felt good friday and over-did it a bit maybe

no sleep for 2 nights...went to dr and got specialist referral and stronger drugs

drugs working a bit now

dr and physio disagree re cause of pain, but both agree need neuro referral and MRI

dr insists on 2 extra weeks off work if feel better or no.

I have a couple of clients I'll do some work with by phone tomorrow...(too woozy today) and I will go in for a couple the week after next...but i am basically grounded.

I love drugs.

@dlowan,
Relieved to hear from you again, bunny. But distressed to read your report.

More pain. Stronger drugs. No work. And you're overdoing.

I hope the MRI provides the kind of info the doctors need to actually help you--in addition to the drugs, which mask the symptoms but don't do a damned thing about the problem.

Commiserating with my bunny. And waiting for some good news. At this point, I view a definitive diagnosis as good news. At least (in theory) you'll receive the proper treatment.

Worrying from afar.

I see. I was wondering what happened this time. I figure all your keyboards have been jinxed! Wink

You poor thing! You must have been really out of it.

Thank god for that! Drugs of the knock-out variety, I take it. Are you able to do things like drive to your appointments, shop a bit for food, etc? And are you managing a reasonable night's sleep with the stronger drugs?

Rather a worry that they can't agree (re your treatment), but good that (for starters) you have two clear weeks off. Hope it'll help you relax a bit, switch off work, so (hopefully!) you won't be constantly thinking & worrying about it. (Are there such things as relievers/fill-in folk, in your field of work, Deb?)
So what's the time-line for the neuro & the MRI?

No comment!

Evil or Very Mad

Do you really have to, Deb?

(Alright, alright! I will say no more!)

@dlowan,
Well damn!

And damn some more.

The pure length of this episode must add another layer of excruciatingness. (Excruciation?)

Shape up, bunny-back! Stat!

@sozobe,
Doctor calmly says it often takes a couple of months and it WILL get better.

This is good and calms me.

As far as I am concerned THINGS GET BETTER REASONABLY FAST.

But the rays show I have quite a lot of general back damage and such.

This'll be age, falling off too many horses, some nasty rear-enders in motor vehicles and arthritic changes,, as well as lots of heavy lifting jobs in high heels and crap, I guess.

Plus this weird nerve thing which is likely congenital, but seems to have decided to get very unhappy suddenly.

I bet i got it from my mother!!! She had serious and crippling back problems occasionally. Mind you, she fell offf LOTS of horses, and had an army injury.

I guess the neuro guy (who I have been promised is both competent and lovely) can tell me if anything specific can be done/needs to be done.

@djjd62,
Some of the anti-virals are good for shingles - but you need to hit it fast - within 72 hours - to get a decent result.

@djjd62,
dj, Just did some reading about shingles. If that's what you have, I hope you get treatment fast.

Jeez, someone else to worry about.

Feel better and please keep us posted.

See, you weren't just whingeing (sp?) & whining ... that pain was REAL!

Hmmm ... a couple of months, the doctor says? Gosh. You'd better do exactly what you're told to look after that back, bunny. You don't want to make things any worse! (Heaven forbid!)

How are you today?
