Saddness. Close as I am to Albuquerque, it now looks as if I will be unable to attend. Should be able to get to meet Asherman and BBB some other weekend, but there were so many more. . . .

Very Happy Very Happy

Cicero,

What day and time will you be arriving? If you will need transportation from the airport, what airline and flight?

I've sent a p.m. to Roger. Perhaps we can work something out.

Ashman, I've checked on airline fares, and the cheapest I can find is over 400 smackeroos. That's more than what I paid for my flight to London from SFO. Sorry, guys, but I'll have to miss this one. c.i.

Roger, I'm so glad you will, after all, be able to make it to ABQ. It saves us from having to pedal north, hog tie you, and drag you down to Corozon. I'm really relieved because I've forgotten how to tie hogs.

Gusty winds yesterday, but so far a calm morning with brilliant sunshine. Bea reports five balloons wafting over the Rio Grande this morning. That's not unusual when during calm mornings here. The weather report says that the weekend temperatures will be in the low 80's. There may be some cloud cover, and there is an outside chance of scattered showers. If they do develop, they seldom last long before the sun is shining through. Clouds are GOOD, they make for fabulous sunsets. The Sandia Mountains turn a bright pink during some sunsets. The word
"Sandia" means watermellon, just the color of our mountain at sunset.

Night time lows will be in the upper forties. That can be brisk if there is a bit of wind, however the winds usually dwindle after dark.

Cicero,

If you really, really wanted to make it over here you could climb on your bicycle and start peddling. You could coast a big part of the way once past the Continental Divide. Don't wait too long to start, those Rockies can take some time to climb. Shazamm! It's the Easy Rider of the health conscious 21st century.

Know what you mean, c.i. Bigdice and Urs made it to Florida for roughly $500.00, which is like $25.00 more that what I paid to get there from Albuquerque. Life is unfair - where do we go to complain. I really would have enjoyed meeting you.

Thanks for the suggestion, Ashman, but we gave away our bikes to Goodwill couple of years ago, because we didn't use them anymore, and it took up space in our garage.

roger, There will be other opportunities in the future to meet up with other A2Kers, I'm sure.

c.i.

Glad Roger will make it after all. and sad about c.i., boo hoo. Are you sure c.i.? Really sure?

What a relief to learn that i'm not the only obsessive clothes packer. I've also tried. But I've finally decided that I should pack all those clothes because sure as I don't, I need something. One can never tell what eventuality may arise, requiring a change in clothing plans. Anyway, I'm not apologizing for it anymore. I'm just going to do it.

Very soon now.

Well as much as I hate to have to back out at the last minute, car trouble, I will not be able to meet with y'all after a;;. Unfortunatly and unlike Roger my forcast is gloomy and there will not be a change at the last minute. Poor little **** car in the shop for a week or more from tomorrow.

Just think of me while you are eating all that great NM food and drinking those Rita's.

JD, why not rent an econo-box for a week? They are cheap and you don't have to put the miles on your own little **** car, with less worry of breakdown. Just a thought.

Anytime you're about to put 1000 miles on your car, it is always worth considering renting, unless you have no $$ and your car is worthless too. Wink Then again, if you have an older, slightly or truly junk car, you may never make it to your destination.

That's true for me, I have a twenty year old BMW that has been a great car, but at this point, I won't drive it much more than 30 miles from home. Not worth the potential hassle.
