Robins Air Force Base takes down flyer advertising MLK 'fun shoot'
Stephen Losey, Air Force Times 3:58 p.m. EST January 15, 2016

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. -- Robins Air Force Base in Georgia has taken down a flyer advertising a "Martin Luther King Jr. Fun Shoot" scheduled for the holiday honoring the slain civil rights leader.

In a statement to Air Force Times, Robins apologized for the advertising tying the event to the holiday honoring King, who was shot by an assassin in Memphis in 1968.

"We're deeply sorry for any offense or harm caused by our insensitivity and failure to provide appropriate oversight of our marketing process," Robins spokesman Roland Leach said in an email Thursday. "The flyer does not represent the values, opinions or views of the Department of Defense, the Air Force or Robins Air Force Base leadership and its employees."

Leach said Robins officials realized the advertisement was inappropriate "several days ago" and immediately started taking the flyer down.

"There was no malice of forethought in the flyer's creation and it was never the base's intention to portray Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a negative light," Leach said. "It was an honest mistake, to which we've personally counseled the parties involved and will provide them with remedial training and appropriate oversight to prevent this sort of inattention from occurring in the future."

The Atlanta Journal-Constitutionfirst reported the flyer had been taken down Thursday.

The 78th Force Support Squadron at Robins scheduled the trap, skeet and sporting clay shooting event for Monday at the base's skeet range. The calendar on the 78th's web page referred to the event as the Martin Luther King Fun Shoot until late Thursday afternoon, when the reference to King was dropped from the listing. The event still appears to be scheduled for Monday.

The event, with King's name, was first posted on the squadron's website Dec. 28.

"Again, we offer our heartfelt apology to those affected by our thoughtlessness," Leach said in the email. "We hold the legacy of Dr. King in the highest regard."

@BillRM,
Oh? Which one of the videos are you identifying as a hoax video? Or is that a typical non sequetor to avoid the truth?

By the way, congratulations for driving layman off the militia thread in an honest debate. I didn't know you had it in you. Job well done, Bill, good on you!

@bobsal u1553115,
Unless there is some proof that a youtube video is not a creation of the anti cops movement you need to assume that they are false until and unless they are proven to be otherwise.

Police Department Hate Hoax in Bridgeport, Connecticut
The epidemic of hate hoaxes is not limited to college campuses. Not even police departments are immune:

Nine months after a racist letter was circulated in the Bridgeport Police Department, two investigations have found what authorities say was a conspiracy to falsely portray racial hatred in the department.

A black former officer, who claimed to be a target of the letter, was arrested Wednesday and the head of the police training academy and president of a minority police organization was placed on paid leave.

Clive Higgins, who was cleared by a federal jury earlier this year of police brutality charges despite a video showing him stomping a prone suspect in Beardsley Park in 2011, surrendered at State Police Troop I in Bethany on Wednesday morning. He was charged with second-degree falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor, and released on a promise to appear in court pending arraignment in state Superior Court on Dec. 16.

The victim he stomped is Hispanic. Who knows, maybe there really is racism in the Bridgeport Police Department police department — or was until Higgins resigned in July.

The racist letter was typed on city letterhead and distributed through the Police Department and began and ended with “White Power,” a term coined by the Ku Klux Klan and the American Nazi Party in the late 1960s and ’70s. It complained that Higgins didn’t belong in the Police Department.

It went on to make negative comments about African-American officers.

Immediately the NAACP was on the case like white on rice, I mean, like black on black beans. But when it predictably came to light that it was a hoax like almost all cases of racism against blacks, the social justice warriors became sheepish. Bleats George Mintz, head of the local chapter,

“At this point, we only know what has been published in the newspaper.”

Here’s what has been published:

On Feb. 9, Higgins claimed he found the letter in his mailbox. He subsequently filed a police report stating that after the discovery he was “In fear for his life,” and immediately contacted Blackwell.

His superior Lt. Lonnie Blackwell is head of the police training academy and president of the Bridgeport Guardians, a black officers’ organization. Now Higgins says that Blackwell ordered him to write the letter “to bring attention to the department with respect to ongoing racial complaints.” That is, to create phony evidence in support of politically motivated complaints. Bridgeport is over 30% black — i.e., past the tipping point.

Like most hate hoaxers, Higgins does not appear to be among the sharpest knives in the drawer:

State police later met with Higgins, according to the arrest warrant affidavit, and pointed out that minutes before he claimed he found the hate letter he is seen on surveillance video typing out a letter on a department computer, printing it out and then making copies.

The letter he is seen typing appears to be the same letter he claims he found, the affidavit states.

“Higgins looked at the photographs and began rubbing and shaking his head. Higgins then admitted that it was in fact the hate letter he claimed to have found in his mailbox,” the affidavit states.

Please welcome Clive Higgins and Lonnie Blackwell to the Hate Hoax List.

@BillRM,
Bill. Its really simple. Go to youtube and search any video you mistrust. The news outlet or police dept or prosecutor releasing that video will also have a copy of the video. No wonder you have trouble accepting the truth.

I'd like you to document your claim that there has been any fake videos of police shooting and I googled it an could find no examples of it.

So for the moment your claim of fake videos is BULLSHIT.

@bobsal u1553115,
You by doing the posting of a video is making the claim that the video in question seem trueful and you do indeed need to give back up information in that regard if you do not wish people to assume otherwise.

An you have not been doing that, therefore as even cops have the right to be assume innocent unless proven otherwise a video from an unknown source should be disregarded.

@BillRM,
Bill, thats pure sophistry. By your standards nothing is true. I have no problems with what I post because I search it well before I post it. All you did was say that anticop sites were untrustable without showing any evidence. I asked you to point out the questionable post. You still haven't. Maybe you are unable to demonstrate the my post is untrue, but I would be glad to demonstrate the truth of any of the videos I post but you have to at least point one out with some sort of specification of why you doubt it. You have to do more than cry "wolf".

Sorry but you do have a history of cutting and pasting stories from anti-police websites so unless you are linking to a national news website your credibility is non existence.

@BillRM,
This thread is probably the only thing that Bobsal and I agree on and I see no reason to doubt the veracity of a single post he's made.

One of the major points of this entire thread is that the major media outlets are ignoring the militarized police and the damage being done to minorities as a result. If that point goes over your head, then please click the thumbs down and you never need see it again.
