We can bet our lives she didn't write her speech and I would bet my house the guy who did has been fired.

Well, she previously implied that her own pen was the key instrument here. Again, not a criminal offense but if you are right, a definite fib (likely coached). If a speechwriter, you may be right about losing his gig, but why not haul him into the light? That would be honest which the campaign is certainly not being now.

I ought to note that Lewandowski is now calling for Manafort's resignation.

Oh, just saw this...

Donald Trump's presidential campaign doesn't plan to fire anybody or to take disciplinary action over the controversy surrounding Melania Trump's plagiarism of Michelle Obama, CNN learned Tuesday.

And a question to Finn and George... are you guys actually going to vote for Trump to sit in the White House?

Let me guess the next "point"....." 'cause you do realise that a third-party vote is a wasted vote."

One last bit (surely not needed but just in case). From Ryan Williams, a Republican strategist and former Mitt Romney aide:

@blatham,
I think he is trying his best to get out of all this. Have, of course, for quite a while.

Let's hope the dems don't self immolate, always possible, but so far so good.

It's laughable that you rely on anything from the propaganda machine Media Matters

It would be laughable except they have embedded links, it is the dates in the quotes at the source.

It wasn't spontaneous, but the video was linked to the attacks. In fact I clicked on the link, it no longer works.

However, I did copy and paste the web address. Couldn't really find it. But in the end, I found the entire Benghazi report from the senate committee in which that paragraph was taken from. After reading it and not really grasping all the technical abbreviations, I did find the paragraph, it was copied straight from the senate report.

I had to open a file, not sure you want to go through that trouble. It is a pdf file.

pdfU.S. SENATE SELECT COMMITTEE ON INTELLIGENCE REVIEW of the TERRORIST ATTACKS ON U.S. FACILITIES IN BENGHAZI, LIBYA, SEPTEMBER 11–12, 2012 (not a link)

On page 45, and 46 (the whole report is like someone looking for a problem)it reluctantly talks about the protest which were held in Cairo being linked to those who attacked Libya. Not directly, but somehow inspired by the video in part. It also talks about how that first talking point in which Susan Rice talked came from early wrong intelligence reports. A lot of redacting but some information which does make myths of right wing smears,

Well, I wondered about that too. But looks like he's now in too deep to do anything but go for it. A big future problem for him will be that all his branded hotels will now have a "Not Quite Presidential Suite". **** me, this is so revolting. Donald Trump as the GOP candidate. But sure, conservatism in America is doing just fine.

@blatham,
Just about nothing would surprise me, but we seem tuned. I include some Republicans in my take, as not all are (add your own expletive). I don't just hate repubs, have some in my family. And I can get distaste for Hillary, have my own thread on that some time ago. I am not her biggest fan. But. we need her.

Jesus christ - even Fox News is imploding now http://politi.co/29SqY7J

The legal firm taken on by 21stCFox is doing interviews of staff at their offices because they are concerned that Fox offices are bugged (obviously someone has alerted them or at least made the suggestion).

Ailes, as much or more than Murdoch and Limbaugh, has helped drive US political discourse straight into the shitter. I wish each of them the worst.

When I first heard there were similarities between Ms Obama's speech and Ms. Trumps, and before reading a single article, I was so hoping Ms Trump boldly announced that "For the first time in my life, I am proud to be an American". My hope was not realized.

I voted for Kasich in the primaries. But that was because I like Kasich, not because I dislike Trump. I was for Kasich even before the primaries started weeding out candidates.

As far as Trump goes, I do disagree with him on some things. Free trade is good, for example, but he is against it. Helping to defend our friends and allies from the bad guys is good, but he wants to focus on protecting America alone. But I always disagree with a candidate on some things, so me disagreeing with Trump on a few things isn't a deal breaker.

What is good about Trump is he will protect my Constitutional rights. Hillary on the other hand will violate my Constitutional rights. My rights are important to me. I will vote for Trump in November, and I will do so with pride.

Yes, I'm definitely off the grid. By way of contrast, here's some folks who are just straight down the middle, honest as a baby's bum is soft and like so rational and everything...
Quote:
Republican National Committee spokesman Sean Spicer on Tuesday quoted My Little Pony in a bid to prove Melania Trump’s convention speech did not plagiarize First Lady Michelle Obama. […]

“Melania Trump said, ‘The strength of your dreams and willingness to work for them,” [Spicer told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer]. “Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony said, ‘This is your dream. Anything you can do in your dream you can do now.’”

The quote comes from the 2015 My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic episode “Do Princesses Dream Of Magic Sheep?”.

Give her time, roger. She's married to you-know-who. Perhaps, up the road, she'll find cause for pride just as Michelle did.

Probably because when you actually look at the facts vs the allegations, Clinton has not repeatedly lied or committed malfeasance.

Hillary knew she was violating State Department guidelines. She also knew she was very likely exposing top secret emails to foreign government hackers.

And she has not only lied repeatedly, she has lied incessantly. Every single statement that she has made regarding the matter has been a lie.
