@engineer,
I guess Ted Bundy could've commanded quite a purse for his fascinating eyewitness accounts too.

Not everything should be for profit.

@Lash,
I have no problem with people being ignorant about things (none of us knows everything).

It's your BLISSFUL ignorance that really rubs me the wrong way.

It's sad because I used to really enjoy your posts.

Just stop.

Why should Lash do that now? She's been pushing her Republican doctrines while telling everyone she's converted to being a progressive for awhile now. That's her gig and she's stuck with it.

This is just her latest gem-the Democrats are responsible for holding the blacks back. What a hoot. Mr. Green

@Blickers,
MLK said it first. Belafonte said it to Barak and Hillary.

I agree. Not surprised a neoliberal would try to duck it.

@Lash,
MLK died before the Southern Democrats became today's GOP.

@Lash,
Republicans have been trying to put up barriers to voting in black districts for the last several elections. And you are saying it's Democrats who bar the African Americans' path to power?

How much longer do you plan to mask your Republicanism in your support for Bernie because the GOP figures he's the weaker candidate?

But not before he pointed out that the incrementalism of the white liberal was a more destructive force than the outright hatred of the KKK.

No. You attributed my comment incorrectly. Both political parties have their own ways of controlling minorities.

LOL!! HRC boldfaced lies onstage about leading the fight for $15.

Booed loudly as she tried to double down on it. She must be insane.

It started to get repetitive (on Bernie's side) at the end, but all in all, Hillary won, imo. She really knocked him for a loop with the gun issue and he had no come back.

You lie again, as usual. Martin Luther King decried the people who said, "I'm not racist, but I don't think these sit-ins and marches are okay because they disturb people". In the early sixties, a person who did not avow that blacks were fundamentally inferior to whites was considered a "moderate". A "conservative" was somebody who was sure they were inferior to whites. Those were the white "moderates" that King was chastising.

The "white liberals" at the time were the white people who supported King at the time. You're trying to make them seem like people to be derided, much as many conservatives deride them still.

Like a lot of conservatives, you surround yourself with conservative literature and websites, and are convinced you are smarter than progressives. You aren't fooling anyone, though there is no doubt you will continue this insane facade you are putting up.

You are reading right from the Republican troll's handbook. It is the Democrats who are against the unreasonable voter ID laws which disenfranchise minorites. The Republicans are for those laws.

@Blickers,
The Democratic Party did a much more effective job disenfranchising voters this go around. Didn't you read any news for the last few months? The Republicans do usually have it sewn up, but the Dems are just as bad when it suits their interest.

You think one party is all good, and one is all bad? Really? Sort of like a 1950s cowboy movie?

You might want to expand your thinking.

The end of the status quo. The people have had it with corruption. You are watching the death throes of the dirty, pillaged two party system in the US. May it die soon.

You're right. I guess we've seen the rise of the neodemocrat, or neoliberal, the ones MLK was talking about. Over the past couple of decades they've herded the rest of the country around, creating a language, forcing a narrative into the public consciousness, and vilifying anyone who doesn't buy in. This is why I hated political correctness.

My take is that the republicans are responsible for most of the current sorry state of US politics: the dumbing down of America; gerrymandering; FAUX Noise; corroption; wars of choice; etc. The dems have been playing catch up but they haven't led that race. Repukes have.

Then you should know that the Letter From Birmingham Jail was addressed to clergymen who said that what Martin Luther King was doing was not justified. The very first line in the Letter From Birmingham Jail was: "While confined here in the Birmingham city jail, I came across your recent statement calling my present activities 'unwise and untimely.' " Well, liberals supported his actions, they didn't run them down as "unwise and untimely". And liberals pushed for the Civil Rights Acts of 1964, 1965, (which the Republicans and conservatives are still fighting), and 1968. And now Republicans are deciding to disconnect the civil rights victories of that era from the present Democratic Party, appropriate Martin Luther King's quest for themselves, and say that today's Democrats are what Martin Luther King was fighting against.

If that is what you are teaching today's students, then you are doing them a horrible disservice.
Here's the text of the Letter From Birmingham Jail. Let the readers of this forum decide for themselves:
