And it's not as if the other two are hard to guess. "I understand that the plane you're sitting in right now will be run into a mountain in a few moments. Just curious: how does that make you feel?"

DW is reporting that those who have seen the condition of the data recorder say that there is a chance they will be able to retrieve the data. For those keeping score I said days ago that this was unlikely.

@Thomas,
When horrific things happen to people, there will be family and friends who will carry the loss and sorry for the rest of their lives. For the press, it's filler, for those unaffected it's a moment or two of conversation. For the Westboro Baptist Church, it's a possible opportunity to rejoice and claim it's Gods punishment.

For me it's a horrible tragedy, not because I knew the victims, but because I have lost friends and family members to senseless acts of violence. When someone asks you "Was that your cousin who was stabbed to death?" Followed by, "was it drug related", it becomes clear that my loss is just a conversation starter for someone else. They want the details, but not because they want to offer his father comfort or say sorry for your loss, but it's a tidbit of news more sexy than talking about the weather. I hope the families of the victims in the crash are not harassed by a rapacious press. They don't deserve to be victimized twice.

True. However lets keep in mind that next of kin just got very monied. Normally compensation would be about $100K, this time it will be measured in a fraction of a million or maybe even whole millions. Germanwings insurance has already calculated to $300 millions from them alone. Lufthansa directly is also in the line of fire, and maybe others as well.

There are victims, and there are victims made partially whole. Just wanted to point that fact out. And no, contrary to your fantasy this does not make me either an asshole nor ignorant.

@hawkeye10,
Hawkeye, you know the saying "Money does not buy happiness".

I can not believe that you just stated that who cares of the death of their loved ones, they are about to get a payout, that should make them happy.

No not an asshole nor ignorant people have their own perception of mentality however, I would use the words WT?

@glitterbag,
I had some of those thoughts when the WTC attacks occurred. The media almost seemed to be salivating.

Do you know the saying " nothing and nobody but you can make you happy"? However, I have been between not being able to pay my bills and having $150K just sitting in the bank..... I am much more happy when I have money, and that is over 50 years of experience talking.

GO ahead, tell me I am wrong that money helps ....

@hawkeye10,
Sigh!

Ah remembering when I played softball, climbed a tree, hopscotch.. Then watching my nieces/nephews, computers, face-book... There was no money then and life was fun.

I don't know why you had the need to advise what money you have obtained, "more money" would have done the trick. Not giving up also does the trick.

I think obtaining more wealth and clearing debts, knowing you can put food on the table, heck even take a holiday boils down to hard work and never giving up, I get that, I am there too. I think the terms are you are stressed less and can breathe and can enjoy some fruit of hard labour.

BUT, we are talking about your suggestion that the parents / partners of the dead (RIP) are going to be happy that this has occurred because they are now going to experience more wealth than they ever had.

I find that un-believable to come from anyone's mouth.

"Partially made whole" implies that they will be less happy than when they were whole, and more happy than they would have been without the money. That does not mean to say that they will be Happy! Happy! or even happy.

Learn to listen please.

@hawkeye10,
Even "partially" happy is not good enough. No matter which way you wish to project this, it's wrong. No grieving parent of a 16 year old is going to be partially happy that they have lost their child but gained money as a result, it will NOT give 1% of happiness.

I don't have to agree with your thought pattern as you don't have to with mine.

Quit though with your "thoughts" of this constant "telling" me how to read or in your words "listen"..

I heard.... I disagree.

@FOUND SOUL,
http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/02/europe/france-germanwings-plane-crash-main/

Quote:
Analysis of a tablet device belonging to Germanwings Flight 9525 co-pilot Andreas Lubitz shows he researched suicide methods on the Internet in the days leading up to the crash, a German prosecutor said Thursday.

Quote:
The search history was not deleted and also revealed searches concerning medical treatment, the prosecutor said.

Quote:
In the weeks leading up to the crash, Lubitz was shopping doctors, seeing at least five, perhaps as many as six, the source said, as he kept going from one doctor to the next seeking help.

Quote:
The 27-year-old was having trouble sleeping, and one of the doctors he saw recently was a sleep specialist, the law enforcement source said. Lubitz apparently told some doctors that he was afraid of losing his pilot's license because of his medical issues.

The doctors knew he was a pilot and gave him a "not fit to work" notice, which he was apparently required to give to his employer, even though he didn't, the source said.

@FOUND SOUL,
Yes, he was going to lose his job, be exposed as a fake etc. Seems like he took revenge on the whole 'system', company, colleagues and passengers included.

Huh, I just went back and looked at my link on all this re his internet searching, and some other things, earlier this morning - and it changed. It's updated, and not the same as what I saw. Huh. That'll teach me not to avoid copying and pasting.

@hawkeye10,
Hawk, I don't know if you have kids but try and put yourself in the shoes of someone who's lost a child in a plane crash, and getting 100 grand for it. How does that make you feel?

Does "more whole" come to mind?

Do you start thinking about how big a swimming pool you can get or something?

@ehBeth,
I would guess the investigators are deliberately hiding the video . If they are, my hat's off to them .
