@farmerman,
Actually, in all my years of drivin around Ive had Porsches, Jags, a TVR, and many many many more Diesel pickm ups and Merkin SUVs like Jeeps , Expeditions, Explorers, ONE Rover (still makes me throw up). Ive actually never dreamed of asuper car as something on could safely take out on our hiway system. AND I NEVER , ever considered a Vette. (I dont like wearing gold chains and Tommy Bahama shirts in Winter)

yeh true, but Im thinking overall "european class" v hillbilly . Engines are now balanced (internal as well as COG). The car has been designed as an entire performance unit (suspension and brakes nd body are integral to performance)

You've described the i8 pretty well. It was tempting. But just knowing that behind one of the most glorious sounding V8 soundtracks I've ever heard, was a puny 3 cylinder engine made me look elsewhere. I must admit, it was almost good enough to make me forget.

@tsarstepan,
I really like my 2017 Acura ILX. I don't have to use my key to start the car.

@tsarstepan,
I get about 30 mpg on a 201 hp engine. Not the best, but I'm satisfied.

This is horrible. They're trying to turn Corvettes into Ferraris.

Will the Camaro at least continue to have a proper pushrod V8? Or will MOPAR be the last one standing?

Who cares about stereotypes? If you can afford a Corvette, dress however you want and just enjoy the driving experience.

Although, it appears that GM is about to ruin the Corvette. Sad

@oralloy,
So far on paper, I agree about the C8 Vette. But I'll reserve judgement til I see it in the flesh.

I do think all the turbo/supercharged Corvettes and all cars with P/W ratios less than about 8 or 9 are not satisfying to drive on the street. They make me feel like I'm restraining myself all the time. Hurts my motor to go so slow..

But I'm too jazzed about the CanAm Ryker Rally I drove home yesterday to think much about cars right now. I'm getting too busted up and old to ride two-up with GF on my motorcycle, so this trike was just the ticket.

@Leadfoot,
I just believe in naturally aspirated, cross-plane crank, pushrod V8s.

I don't mind if people make other things too. But I want someone somewhere to keep making naturally aspirated, cross-plane crank, pushrod V8s.

There is something unique about the sound and feel of them that I miss. Only thing I don't like about NA engines is how they loose their mussel at high altitude. I'm rarely below 7500 ft in CO and my NA engines feel noticeably weaker there. Turbos restore most of what is lost.

Wait! Moules-frites lose their flavor at higher altitudes?

Listening to NPR about the promised flying cars.

Cool quote.....

Flying cars are the Godot of technology.

@chai2,
Things are dangerous enough with people texting and gibberishing on the phone. Take the accidents on the roads and imagine them several feet up as distracted flyers crash into high rise apartments and plow through businesses meetings on upper floors of office buildings.

Not to mention all the drones zipping around causing their difficulties.

@Sturgis,
It's admitted that flying personal transport is something not in the immediate future.

It takes a LOT of energy to get something off the ground, let alone move through the air.

One thing they they are envisioning is something like elevated platforms around urban areas where driverless cars could land and pick up passengers. No way could even driverless car land in the street.

Here's the link to the audio of the story....

Love the Jetson music.

58 Alfa Romeo with a modern computer controlled engine, 1700cc more or less, AC, radial ply tires, mag wheels, carbon fiber substituted for steel everywhere possible, 1700 lbs or less, and no bullshit whatsoever, no airbags, no power brakes or steering, no EGR valve, no catalytic converter or any other similar bullshit, no antilock brakes or anything like that at all.

@gungasnake,
I will buy you one if you promise to drive it on the Autobahn, for 12 hours during rush hour traffic.
