Europe had higher standards of justice back then. These days you guys just conduct show trials and convict people without evidence.
That wasn't related to Europe but to the Sacrum Imperium Romanum Nationis Germanicae. And here - to be identified by the noted author - even more specified to the territory of the Archbishop-Elector of Cologne (mainly the Duchy of Westphalia).

... we don't have secet courts here. But don't show trials on tv. Night well be that you find such annoying.
And without evidence? Well, even that can be in theory (I'm not aware of such). But at least, we don't have capital punishment.

Or secret laws, or prosecutors who consider it their duty to get citizens punished by any means possible, or a system that overcharges on purpose as a tactic to get a better plea deal because the courts can only handle a tiny fraction of those that the state is trying to convict.

The rights of the citizen here are an afterthought, if they are any thought at all.

There is much that needs to be done to improve our system. But we are still WAY more enlightened than those third-world Europeans.

@oralloy,
Are you referring to such rulings as the alleged right to be forgotten and multiple rulings that the Gypsy's can pretty much go where ever they want and the country that they are currently shacking up in needs to pay to take care of them?

Not quite a court ruling but the EU was going out on the high seas to "rescue" those who intended to be illegal immigrants into the EU from Africa, till they figured out that it encouraged more to come. There was also the unfortunate statement from some africain radical group or another that they would "flood europe with African refugees" unless demanded numbers of Euros show up at their bank. The europeans then reconsidered the "humanitarian" program.

No. I was referring to the prosecution of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito.

Europe not only makes the United States look good by comparison, they even make that Egyptian show trial of those journalists look respectable by comparison.

a) that's in Italy. (You generalised "Europe" - I clearly was referring to above mentioned part of what is now Germany).
b) see above.

Perhaps Roman Law ("civil law") and common law really are a third-world laws as is not having the death penalty. You will have reasons to think so.

I disagree. I do not want the world to be a place where Americans are prosecuted for crimes while others are allowed to commit the very same crimes against us with impunity.

Torturing people to try to get information is not prosecuting them for their crimes. Surely you can see that.

Also, if we are to prosecute any Republicans, the first step needs to be a 30 year prison term for Bill Clinton.
What crime did Clinton commit that has a 30 year prison term?

How about torturing and killing as the opposing side does? It will save time and money, and show Islam we can play with the big boys.

And if Clinton was prosecuted for rape his sentence could be 30 years.

You are proposing we act like terrorists. Bully for you.
It's nice that the "real Americans" don't believe in what America stands for.

Being just like them wont be a choice anymore for you in a while. Don't panic there are men who will do this because they have to. Their success doesn't seem to interest you. But these efforts will not be done for an ideology that applauds such acts when done to unbelievers. They will be used to stop it.

If you cannot distinguish between these two options you are either lying or a coward. In your case both.

I'm sure you'll be able to explain the upside of the US recruiting for ISIS/ISIL.

If you think that that by playing nice Isis will leave us alone you are way too naive to be in this discourse.

If anything, releasing the report will boost recruiting.

They did not get Bin Laden as a result of torture. That claim has been debunked so many times, no one should even be attempting to make it.

And you know this how??

Obammy's Cia director said they did get antionable info. The military contractor who is devised the protocol says we got actionable info.

But what do they know...we should definately believe you instead! Rolling Eyes

It is also important to note that some detainees who were subjected to enhanced interrogation techniques attempted to provide false or misleading information about the facilitator/courier. These attempts to falsify the facilitator/courier’s role were alerting. In the end, no detainee in CIA custody revealed the facilitator/courier’s full true name or specific whereabouts. This information was discovered through other intelligence means. “2

Abosuletly laughable. To say waterboarding revealed them trying to lie about the couriers role didnt lead to putting the spot light on him is to ignore the obvious: the technique worked like a ******* charm.

You all think that this program is a bunch of brainless toughs in a dark room with a bright light and a rubber hose.

This is a sophisticated protocol designed with the notion that yes, they may lie...to the ones doing the waterboarding. But to the operatives not dishing it out? You know...good cop bad cop? As any one who has been through training regarding interogation at the hands of the enemy (all military personnel) the first thing they tell you is not to lie or mke things up. A good interogator can mine lots of good info from your lie. Thats why your told: Name, Rank, and Service # only.

Wake up sheeple.
