If you live alone with just your cat, is it crazier to talk to your cat? or to have a cat and NOT talk to it?

@Banana Breath,
I think it's crazier to not talk to the cat...but--it depends on what you say to the cat ;-)

@Banana Breath,
I hope talking to my cats doesn't make me crazy. Now, expecting them to even pretend to listen, well, that's insane.

@roger,
When you're convinced they''re answering you, that's also of concern.

I talk to cats in the street, my girlfriend says I have a special "talking to cats" tone of voice. Sometimes they answer, in a feline manner of course.

@contrex,
I also talk to the occasional cat on the street, and they do indeed answer in a feline manner. That is, they raise their tails in the air and stroll of to the north - giving me a perfect view of the south side of a cat.

I talk more to my dog than anybody else. If I had a cat it would be the same way.

I think everyone who has a cat talks to it, if only to call it in for dinner. Mine respond to simple questions like 'Do you want to go out?' Yes, stand by door, No, go under the table.

@izzythepush,
My senior cat stands in front of the door and says, "out, out, I want out"! Fine. You let him out. Then he stands outside the door and says "Out, out, I want out".

Once I had forgotten that one of my cats was outside and it was the next morning until I remember and open the door for him to come in.

As he walked by me while looking directly at me he curse me in a very loud voice and did not shut up until he had reached his food bowl.

So yes cats with special note of unhappy cats can indeed talk back to you and in a disrespectful manner at that.

I had never had a cat until two weeks ago. I started feeding a stray....the cat in turn informed me she has selected me as the the person to give her food, shelter, pay her vet bills, and give her affection....I only speak dog and I'm trying to learn cat. Laughing

Every cat of whom I have ever heard is a mammal.
Mammals come in 2 genders, not 3.

Those 2 genders r: male and female.
For the male ones, we use the pronoun: he.
For the female ones, we use the pronoun: she.

It makes no sense to attribute the pronoun: it, to a mammal.

Thay can be VOCAL.
A while ago, I had a fire in NY, after which one of my nabors
captured one of my tenant's cats and put him into a crate,
inside the house. He appeared to deem his life to be in danger; it was not.
He yelled and hollered a lot louder & longer than I thawt thay cud.
He did not mind being redundantly repetitive in making his freedom-loving point.
His humen were away until the next day.

You have not yet live until a mother cat have shown up at your front door and informed you that you are not only going to take her in but also find loving homes for her kids.

@Germlat,
Good for you Smile

I miss my cat Sad Not only did we "talk" but I taught him to box!! Lucky for me, I've now taught my dog Rawaii to do the same, though he doesn't stand on his back legs to do it, like Bigsy did... Bigsy was a stray too Germlat, was cause some idiot thought it would be funny to drive faster and get him.
