I quit in 2001 for the first time, but I also quit quitting half a year later. I didn't feel miserable for not being able to stop the habit, because I realized I wasn't ready to do it just then!
I've set a date for my final smoke, and it's gonna be next year, as a celebration of 25 years of giving the Big Tobacco a considerable sum of my money!
The money for smokes was never a big thing for me, cuz I never really saw the money go out of my pocket since I take my tip in the restaurant for it, before I count my tip. It's like its not my money at all...
So I'll be re-starting this or a similar thread next year!
But still... kudos to y'all!
Edit: typo
Funnee. Those were my EXACT thoughts when I read that thread.
Day 5:
Passed the slopitch test last night. It wasn't too bad at all...and I'm still on day 5 smoke-free.
I've been able to drink beer without freakin' out and running to the store for cigs too.
Yay!
Jer
Jer, looking forward to cig-free days 6, 7, 8, 9, 10..........
BBB
Big D: When's your big date?
BBB: actually I did toss her a bachelor trick.
Heeven:
Jer: Go Jer! You passed me with that beer drinking performance. I've been dry since I quit smoking. What's a slopitch test?
Just checking in to make sure everybody is being good and putting up today's gold stars.
Smooches and hugs to all the good-smellin' non-smokers (and that means every last non-stinky one of you
)
Slopitch test...
I play slopitch and beach volleyball on different nights of the week. Usually that's where I drink a lot of beer and smoke a lot of cigs. That was the first "beer league" activity that I'd gone to since laying down the butts.
Last night I just drank the beer and ate way too many sunflower seeds.
Thanks ehBeth!
Ah, slopitch= slow pitch. You da man Jer. I still don't trust myself to drink. I tend to exhibit signs of drastically reduced inhibitions when I drink... like none, eh!
Just stopping by to tell Bill & Jer how very proud I am of them!
Jer has an added inducement. Last time I was in Vancouver my favorite Players Lights were $8.00 a pack.
Well, that one was for Eva but looking back it could just as easily have been yours... but you deserve your own.
Thanks Baby.
(just an aside -- a straight guy should never call another straight guy "baby". under any circumstance. EVER!)

Shows what you know, you know you big baby.
Listen, dollface, I think you're right.
guy i work with (he's italian) uses baby as a name suffix: "hey, frank-baby! how ya doon?" "okay, carol-baby, no problem".
drives me up the wall...
let me digest dollface for a while...
