I trust ya'll are kiddin about the popcorn. What could that hurt?

Popcorn is fine actually, as are the popsicles, so long as calories, carbs, and/or sugar are not a problem in keeping weight under control. I read somewhere that stopping smoking does readjust all body systems and most people may gain a few pounds even without increasing calorie intake....UNLESS physical activity is also increased. (Don't hold me to that though as I'm working from ancient memory here.)

A snack size (1 serving) of Pops Secret movie theater butter popcorn is 250 calories. Not bad at all unless other stuff is added with it. I'm just one who is rarely satisfied with one serving. Smile

But....if you're not doing 20 or more minutes a day vigorous aerobic exercise, an extra 250 calories can add up over the month. If you ARE doing the exercise, eat and enjoy. (It's a lot easier to do the workout too without lungs full of smoke.......hint....hint)

I've heard sex burns a lot of calories too. Smile

which means it's only habit that I think about them at all these days. 20 years of stupidity... for what? To avoid a shitty week and an uncomfortable month or two? If you aren't already; soon you'll be as happy as I am that you quit.

Ps. to those of you thinking about joining us... look how easy it is... HELLO!

It's funny - cause I've been smoking for 12 years every single day, about 30 cigs a day, except for a 9 week hiatus a couple of years ago...and while the last couple of days have been hard, it hasn't been absolute hell...I just haven't been all that productive...

I expect things will get better every day and I'll have a couple of hard times...I just have to remember that nothing is worth having another cigarette.

So what Bill's saying about the shitty week/uncomfortable month/two...I've gotta second what he's saying...

As you can tell by my recent posts, I'm not the rocket-scientist I usually am, but at least I'm not smoking Wink

Soz is back, yayyyy, and Jer, I am so happy to hear your report. I won't post back up every day, lest it become obnoxious. You will have times that clearly call for a cig. You will do a little dance... at least mentally.

OK, elbows up, do a little dance, tap tap tap, stride.......

well, y'all prolly know dance better than myself too. Meringue if you need to, that is quite distracting in itself if done in Guadalajara at 3 a.m. Really, cigs are only some of the many ways we can go astray.

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the cigs I smoke I feel ashamed. Then I look into this thread and think about the workers in the cig factories and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't smoke another cig, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I smoke this cig and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about myself."

I'll make sure to smoke more to make up for you selfish folk.

She says disgustingly soothingly, I understand, my boy, I understand. Her haughty stance strengthens forevermore the lad's belief in whatever needs to be done to thwart her evil if useful fulgencies.

Craven. I know this is not cheery news, but I think of you as a younger brighter me. Surely this idee fixe (does that seem like I know french?) I have is unfortunate from your side but is easy from my own. Usually I can skim easily your well worked out povs and say, yeh, at no personal expense.

But here, here, I must say, sure, be free.
Listening might be smarter.

Yaaaaaaaaack, that is tooo lectureintense.

This theory is easy to test as to the strength of its power....and truth...

Hmm - he is young, I old.

Tell yer what.

I will take it up if you stop.

The workers will still be fine.

Whaddaya say?

I say you femfolk know I'm kiddin'

I do not smoke enough to support even a fraction of one person's dreams. Or conversely the tabacco worker's dreams come at the cost of those of many others.

Not really worth supporting, just funny.

Anywho, I'm tackling other vices right now. Cigs aren't even on my to do list but I promised my grandmother I'd quit before the age she quit at. She's always telling me how she prayed to God to make Navy beat the Army at a football game and she'd quit, and well the rest is oft-repeated history.

I don't remember how old she was, but it's a long way away, I have time.

So, then, what can I do instead, to drive him cig crazy?

Sorry, that spit coated stuff reads as offensive to me as I look at my post.

Yah, just quit this and that gradually, you'll get off on the freedom at some point. (Shutting up now)

I'm still hung up on the popcorn. Unless drenched in butter, or pre-buttered with a hydrogenated oil product (lots of 'buttery' microwave popcorns are), the calories and health risks are negligible. Nobody but diabetics and people suffering from hypertension, which can be aggravated by high-sodium intake, should feel the need to avoid popcorn.

Man, I hate it when one of those bits slides up between your tooth and your gum. You know it is never going to soften up and needs major surgery to remove, bad news.

Now bongs for instance are water-cooled AND fat-free.......
