Bill,

Glad to see that you're doing so well - I checked on you right when I got back from holidays.

I've decided that my last day as a smoker will be July 11th - stopping when I go to bed on Sunday night.

So you may note the date - and know that you've inspired positive change north of the border. Keep fighting the good fight.

Cheers,

-Jer-

yay, the saga will continue. another part of the reality internet show. Will he prevail? will he fail? will she sleep with him? (oops, that's from another show...)
on a more serious note: you go, jer, you can do it!

Too cool Jer! Friday, July 11th 2004 (don't forget to imagine that announcer with the super deep voice and the echo of a Sunday demolition derby ad) will make a wonderful day to do the deed. I wonder if that wussy Kicky will join you?

Go Jer!

Well, very shortly after quitting smoking you'll see why she loved it so much.

I'm still off the ciggies but I'm particularly cranky these days. I think it's more to do with the job than the cigarettes, although I keep catching myself reaching for one. I spent several minutes looking for my lighter only to remember I've given them up, sigh!

That's great Heeven! I was getting ready to give up on you. I did my first smoke-free movie 20 years last night. It was nice not Jonesing for a smoke during the film, but leaving the theater on my way to my car I felt like I was being jacked. I imagine my first step out of an airport will be the same. Since I have succeeded at separating my coffee and cig habits, I suspect with more practice other re-stimulators will loose their grip as well. Anyway, like Jer said; keep fighting the good fight!

Go Heeven!

Oh ye of little faith! Giving up on me eh? It's probably been easier for me since I never smoked during working hours, never smoked while out with non-smoking friends and stopped bringing my ciggies with me when going out drinking since all the bars/clubs became smoke-free. I've never been a fan of jumping up and going outside for a smoke so I only smoked at home and, to combat the need to light up when I'm relaxing on the couch, I bought a supply of lollipops (yes, lollipops!) so when I get the urge I can pop one in and it lasts for hours. Gives me the same hand/mouth action that I miss, not having a cigarette. In a few months time, I'll be back looking for support on quitting lollipops! Laughing

I see… part-time smoker to begin with… very good, nonetheless. Then there is definitely no sense in turning back now!
As for coming back looking for advise on how to quit lollypops, I'm sure you'll get plenty of insightful responses to that query.

Heeven, eating peanuts one at a time will keep your hands busy, too. Or how about shelling and eating pistachio nuts as well.

I used that same technique once. And it actually worked. LifeSaver Lollipops were my lollipop of choice. And just so you know, it's much easier to quit sucking lollipops then to quit smoking. Smile
