One of the earliest programs I watched on television was Fearless Fosdick, which featured a bunch of string puppets. Anybody know which newspaper comic strip first gave life to Fearless? What other comic strip character inspired the cartoonist to create him?
Fearless Fosdick was a spinoff from Lil' Abner, lampooning Dick Tracy.

Speaking of Lil' Abner (this is a little off topic), there was a storyline late in the strip's life involving an invasion from outer space by aliens- I believe they were called the Pincus People. In what unusual way was Earth saved from the alien invasion?
Strangely, I don't recall the invasion, although I was a faithful reader.
Sadly, the Pincus people were the same size as and looked exactly like hotdogs, and in an attempt to rally support among their non-sentient look-alikes at a sports stadium, they were eaten by an unsuspecting human public.
