I thought that if anybody is interested, we might try a trivia game whereby one gives a portion of a golden age of radio show or an early tv episode, and the one who gets the correct answer offers a new clue. It can also be a fact about a show, rather than a transcript. For instance:
"Hello, Peevee."
"Hello, Mr. _____. What can I do for you today?"
(hint: this show appeared on both radio and television)
The Great Gildersleeves
Hard work never killed anybody, but why take a chance?
I am merely guessing: Fibber McGee and Molly.
Nope
But Fibber McGee and Molly are one of my favs and I have modled my closets after them.
I'm trying to remember a lazy character. Maybe Charlie McCarthy?
I recall that line, and I keep thinking of various characters, such as Jack Kirkwood, The Judy Canova Show - so far, a blank.
Charlie McCarthy is correct.
There's just one way to handle the killers and spoilers and that's with the US marshall
What's the time frame for "Golden Age", Edgar?
Golden Age Radio went from the first programs, like Amos n Andy through Have Gun Will Travel in the 60s. Television, I thought, arbitrarily, perhaps through the 60s.
There's just one way to handle the killers and spoilers, and that's with the US marshall and the smell of GUNSMOKE.
Yay!
Clue:
Hanley, Saunders, Caje, Kirby, Littlejohn
(What do you say we try to guess without googling!)
Fealola what about us older folk who only have fragmented memories - like we remember only one part of something either the line or the show?
Ha! I can relate to that!
Well, let it sit for a while. I think someone will get it. Edgar, any rule on hints? Like maybe after so many guesses!
Right this is Edgar's thread after all.
I feel that if nobody gets it in a reasonable time, a few hints are in order. I haven't Googled for answers, but I guess it's bound to happen. As of right now, I haven't a clue on fealola's clue.
Nor I but a guess - The Arthur Godfrey Show
Probably the clues ought to specify tv or radio.
Little House On The Prairie
