Equus- Where are you? I know the answer. It took me two days of utter frustration to find it but I did..............so there! Funny thing, I never heard of the show. Maybe that was because I did not have access to a TV until 1949!

George- Yup! And it's not easy to find. The folks who put out the Emmys apparently don't have an archive. I really had to "Google around" to find it!

Sorry, I've been away. First emmy for most popular program was none of those mentioned so far.

Hints: It was a game show. It was the 1948 emmys. I don't remember ever seeing it, but TV guide lists it among its 50 greatest TV game shows.

I love "Most Outstanding Personality"!
There's a name that has passed into legend.

None of the ones mentioned so far. If you've seen an episode, it probably isn't the right one. Somehow I doubt any kinescopes exist of it, but it'd be fun to watch.

Hint: it was more-or-less copied after an informal party game (i.e. not patented) of the early and mid-20th century that is rarely played at parties today.

(for those who've googled:) Isn't the 'most outstanding personality' a scream? I'd love to see a kinescope of her act. Remember, TV programming was in its infancy, and what passed for entertainment back then is quite different from today.
