@revelette2,
Greenwald, if you mean him, was a columnist for The Guardian US (and before for Salon):
Wikipedia wrote:
A columnist is someone who writes for publication in a series, creating an article that usually offers commentary and opinions.

And someone (if you mean Poitras), who directs and edits documentary films ... well, at least she is already biased by choosing a topic.

[Actually, even the most neutral news journalist is biase ... in choosing the news which she/he publishes.]

It would be nice... like if all politicians were honest all the time. That'd be super.

Yes, I understood what you said.

I said that RELATIVE TO THE MUCH LARGER CRIMES COMMITTED BY THE NSA, Snowden's disclosure was a minor offense. Did you get that?

I get that is what you are trying to sell because you realize how wrong you were when you made your original statement.

But I have already quoted the original statement...and it without a doubt says that Snowden's offense is, according to you, a MINOR OFFENSE. It does not say that it has to be compared with "the much larger crimes committed by the NSA" (which have not been determined to be crimes), Olivier.

Here is your wording: "You see the minor offense by Snowden but not the major one by the NSA."

There is no relativity mentioned there...nor inferred. You specifically are calling what Snowden did (stealing classified government documents and making them public)...a minor offense...and you specifically are calling what the NSA did (perfectly legal things)...a major offense.

You are dead wrong...and rather than be man enough to acknowledge that you are...you are trying to weasel out of things...and getting rather ill-tempered while doing so.

Wanna talk Sudoku? Maybe that will get you out of the hole...or off the merry-go-round.

I don't read them. Should I?

You apparently do...because you quote from them. Your claim to honesty is getting more and more suspect with every post, Olivier. You ought to stop digging...or...jump, Olivier, jump!

@Moment-in-Time,
I don't know hardly any more, yet she was and is so important to the whole story. She did give an interview for the Times I found interesting.

@Olivier5,
Yes, well, couple a biased newspapers and/or film maker with political agendas being charged with keeping untold numbers of US classified documents and it is not a good mix.

@Olivier5,
Quote:

"Who cares?" was in response to your obvious obsession with Snowden. You seem to care for him, his loneliness, what he had to give up... much more than I do. What's that about?

Wow,Olivier5,I'm beginning to think you are paranoid as your response to my post is contorted. For sometime I avoided this particular inflammatory thread because I dislike arguments; you are one odd poster who seem to be in your private reality arguing and blowing off steam in a very mean unhealthy way when you lose. There should never be a reason to become so heated and angry on a message board. Why you even referred your "balls" in one response to Frank Apisa which I could hardly believe what I read and also thought thoroughly disgusting!!!

Another thing, intensely polarizing topics, after a fashion, tend to unnerve me. As for Snowden who skipped the country trying to outwit the US, I'm delighted he's feeling some discomfort. But whether he's doing well or bad is certainly not under my control. I am not obsessed with this man, hell, there's just too much going on in the world news with the rise of ISI and westerners joining this terrorists to fight America and their own country of origin; the US strategy to defeat this cancerous growth, than to waste time agonizing over Snowden. YOU, on the other hand, seem possessed, dominated by his status as a hero and in your perception, delighted the US "is digging its own grave."

You are a punchline, Olivier5.

@Moment-in-Time,
Frank spoke of my balls so often that I had to reply... If you disliked that, complain to him.

And you DO SEEM obsessed with Snowden. This thread has always been very personal for you; you've talked about the man Snowden quite a lot, while generally ignoring the mass spying programs he uncovered.

Or perhaps it is just that witch hunting and lynching are far funnier than actually thinking through the issues? :-)

Edit: and I am APPALLED the US is digging its own grave. Really. Because nobody in his right mind wants to see the fall of the US democracy, not with the amount of military power they have amassed... That would be a global catastrophe with enormous consequences. Try and not allow your anger to control your thoughts.

It certainly might well be that we know more about her becauses lives/lived here in Germany (Berlin) for quite some time ... and she's one of the initial supporters of the Freedom of the Press Foundation.

@revelette2,
Everyone has a bias, it's human nature. It doesn't stop them being objective.

So you think Snowden should have released the documents to someone who didn't give a **** one way or the other?

@izzythepush,
I think he shouldn't have released them at all, I suspect had he tried a reporter who wasn't a political active, I doubt they would have taken it but more than likely turned him in.

@Frank Apisa,
Frank, your wasting your time. These guys are not going to admit that what Snowdon did was wrong because to do so would be to admit that the U S of A is more serious about protecting its citizens than their countries. I'm sure some of them admire Putin and his stance about increasing nuclear weapons because he claims that he needs them to protect himself against the U S of A. I see another nuclear weapon race coming because if Russia starts on a new weapons program you can bet your ass that the U S will also. I guess its back to building weapons and bomb shelters to protect ourselves from European countries that dont have the intillegence to see that Putin isent worried about the U S but about his ability to take what parts of Europe he wants to.

You really are a weasel. But you are a weasel who does very difficult Sudoku's...and I gotta respect that aspect of you.
