@revelette2,
He could have picked much worse people, like from a newspaper belonging to Murdoch... He did the best he could under the circumstances.

Frank, your wasting your time. These guys are not going to admit that what Snowdon did was wrong because to do so would be to admit that the U S of A is more serious about protecting its citizens than their countries. I'm sure some of them admire Putin and his stance about increasing nuclear weapons because he claims that he needs them to protect himself against the U S of A. I see another nuclear weapon race coming because if Russia starts on a new weapons program you can bet your ass that the U S will also. I guess its back to building weapons and bomb shelters to protect ourselves from European countries that dont have the intillegence to see that Putin isent worried about the U S but about his ability to take what parts of Europe he wants to.

I realize that...but Olivier pretty much begs for me to do this to him every once in a while...and you know me...a softie willing to accommodate him.

@Frank Apisa,
Then you are just pretending to misunderstand me... like you do with Walter and score of others. In fact, you do it so much (that and many other despicable tactics) that no A2K old-timer would engage you. They know better than speak to you.

I agree with you, Revelette, Laura Poitras is quite an important person:

Now you have the brazen gall to imply you're inside my head? YOU KNOW WHAT IS PERSONAL TO ME?!?!? Gheez, Oliver5, lighten up. You don't have one iota what's in my mind, except I've lost patience with you and will leave you to Frank Apisa, a highly considerate poster, who seems to have the personality of the Biblical Job and Revellette, a very decent and understanding poster with much stamina.

Sure, you do that. But if you keep obsessing about Snowden here, his state of mind, his living conditions, his loneliness, etc, I'll keep pointing that you seem more comfortable talking about the messenger than about the message...

I am not misunderstanding you, Olivier...and I am not pretending to misunderstand you.

I am laughing at you...I find you to be ridiculous when you get into these kinds of things with me.

Ya think???

Look...I am here for you...and for anyone else who wants to converse. If anyone does not want to talk with me...fine. If they do...also fine.

If you think that no old-time A2Kers will speak with me...that is what you think.

Most "old-time A2Kers" are not wussies, Olivier...and they can more than handle themselves. They are not going to run away.

This is A2K, not the playground. Here...the kitchen is always hot.

Try to bear up.

It is frustrating at times, MiT.

But this guy is proving to be "not worth it."

Have fun with him...enjoy the back-and-forth...and do not take anything in the interaction too seriously.

And thanks for your kind comments.

LOL. I come from much harder boards. This place is relaxed, slow, mature, friendly, but slightly boring. It lacks energy. The kitchen is always lukewarm here, if not cold. You think you're a challenge for me, Frank? At best, you're a reliable sparing partner, a punching ball which is always here to take a few punches when I feel like punching, i.e. a poster who actually posts, contrary to most A2Kers. And that's the only reason I haven't totally dumped you yet.

Cute talk, Olivier...and I am sure it impresses the other kids. But you lead with your chin...and never really land any blows.

And...you are not in control...one of the most important aspects of these kinds of encounters.

The bravado of the pretense that you "come from much harder boards"...and your opinion of A2K are darling...I will say that. Wink

Jump, Olivier...jump.

As long as Oliver5 is winning he is an OK poster. It's when you've shown him up that his darker side surfaces. But I need not advise you on this as you've seen yourself.

When first coming to a2k I mentioned to Oliver5 that the posters here are a cut intellectually above the previous ones at Yahoo who seemed very juvenile with the name calling. The name of the board was "Has the US Policy Become Outdated." But the main topic was regarding the middle East conflict, i.e., Israel vs Palestinians. I had reduced my posting there before Yahoo went defunct on all its social message boards.

Since coming to this board I've been honored to observe and read the messages of some brilliant posters, you among them, and others I won't name for fear of embarrassing them. Oliver5 will be most transparent to all after a fashion if he keeps up because his personality will become defined.

There might be future times when I engage Oliver5 but it will be on matters insubstantial or insignificant, nothing inflammatory.

I'll try, although I am quite outspoken and given to defensive tactics.

@Frank Apisa,
When will people learn how to treat life in a full circle. Everyone chooses sides "you're wrong"; "you're right", what about "here you're correct; here you're incorrect".

Nothing in life is 100% X. There is a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

@Frank Apisa,
You're a resident here, and like all of them have no idea how civilized this place actually is, because you have nothing to compare it to. Ask MIT about the infamous I/P board on yahoo, nicknamed the "hate board". Years after leaving it, she was still talking about how rough it was... I posted there for 10 years. In the end, the constant negativity wore me off and I left. If you want, I can point you to that place. They'd love you there, for the 2 mn it will take them to turn you into liquid state.

Knowledge is like fire, it molds us into shape.

Tell me, Olivier...how many boards am I posting on presently...and how many forums and boards have I posted on...and still retain membership?

How the hell can you make a statement like that...when you obviously have no idea....because the number is quite high.

Nobody turns me into liquid, Olivier. I am one of the most durable individuals you will ever encounter. And I can do it with a dose of levity when I want...or be quite vicious if that is what is begged for.

Apparently you like to consider yourself a champion. I think...for decent reason...you are not even a serious contender.

I suggest you jump...now.

Or...stick with me. I will enjoy it no matter how you decide to deal with things. I will actually look forward to getting home from work or golf...to get it on.

Sure, aggression is part of life, if that's what you're saying, but constant negativity doesn't need to be part of my life.

BTW, you might wish to refine your metaphor. The potter shapes the pot; the fire makes that shape permanent.

@Olivier5,
Olivier, the metaphor is not to separate the pot and the potter - it's to allude to how our consciousness and our subconscious are inter-connected.

What is "constant negativity"? As no matter which way you go, there will always be more negativity than positivity as long as this species continues to fear their own emotions and inner humanity. People fake emotions and social activities because it's easier to wear a mask and do things, than to go head first and accept the responsibility of people forever knowing your mistakes when you make them.
