@cicerone imposter,
I don't neither.

But certainly Frank would never invent it.

No, never. Frank is only guilty of expanded imagination.

Then you must be saying what I am saying: Spying will go on...we will remain friends...and let's put this all behind us before it becomes so contentious that we do severe relations.

Great. Glad you finally see things my way.
I don't see it your way nor do I have to say it how you are doing.

Did you forget to mention where I wrote what you claimed I did write?

What are you saying, Walter?

If you do not agree with me...what are you saying?

I say we will continue to spy on you...and more than likely, you will continue to spy on us. (The reason for that hedging on the second part has to do with "ability to do so.")

I say we will continue to be friends.

I say that there will be people like you and ci who will moan and groan...and not be able to come up with a realistic alternative.

I also say that the simplistic alternative of severing relations and replacing that relationship with a strengthened relationship with Russia...is beyond hilarious...and that nobody serious would even consider that.

So...where do we disagree?

@Frank Apisa,
In your world, you must spy on your friends and family to make sure they have no negative ideas against you. You live in fear of fear itself. Most of us prefer to live with trust in our loved ones and friends. Without trust, you have nothing.

c.i. and I moan and groan?

Did you really miss, Frank, that I copied and pasted news reports? That this "moaning and groaning" originally comes from those who were hurt by illegal actions done here in Germany?

Once again, Walter...congratulations to Germany for the win. Angela Merkel looked a lot happier than I have seen her in the last few weeks.

@Walter Hinteler,
At the end of the day, what are you expecting the US to do to remain friends? If we fall short, what are you expecting your leadership to do? If they fall short after all the investigating and pronouncements, what are you going to do or those in your country?

I think what Frank is getting at, and I am not sure it will work that way, at the end of the day, the US won't change too much and I imagine in all other respects the US and Germany will continue on in the same fashion as before.

I really have no idea.
And I didn't think that our government really would do what they did.
Perhaps, just perhaps, the USA will accept us as partners or at least as allies and friends.
